--Rangoon Red with Black leather interior, Black carpeting, 427
Side Oiler engine, 4-speed Gearbox, 18,000 miles from new, original
and unrestored!1 of 260 427 Street Cobras, 1 of a Handful Original
Paint 427 Cobras, Judged Gold In SAAC Survivor Class, Single
Ownership For Nearly 40 Years, Never Modified With Any S/C
Equipment, Original Body, Chassis, Engine, Transmission, Rear End,
Original Blue Dot Tires. One of the Most Correct Cobras In
Existence.Invoiced to Shelby American on June 10, 1966, CSX3278 was
finished in Rangoon Red/ Black and billed to Tasca Ford of East
Providence, Rhode Island, for $6,145.00. After a sale fell through
at Tasca Ford, the Cobra was then transported to Ron's Ford Sales
in Bristol, Tennessee and where it was sold to new
ownership. In 1980, the Cobra was advertised by Weldon
Scrogham's G&W Sales and Service of Waynesboro, Virginia,
as "Cobra 427, Red/Black, 13K miles, excellent original example,
$55,000." Mr. Scrogham was a well-known and respected Porsche
restorer-collector who's Porsches have adorned the worlds concours
lawns over the years. Apparently, Mr Scrogham traded an
original-paint 1959 Porsche 356 A Coupe to the Cobra's West
Virginia-based second owner, who had bought it for his daughter as
a graduation gift. Mr. Scrogham stated that it still had the
original sticker on the speedometer then, and that he sold it to an
enthusiast named Mr. Walker of NC. Alan Shelton of NC purchased the
Cobra sometime in the 1980s and although advertising it for sale in
1991 "Fresh, original engine, drivetrain w/ scattershield; wheels
beaded; nice Wingfoots; original paint, leather, top, side
curtains, tonneau; 17K miles; $425,000, apparently Mr Shelton
decided to keep the Cobra in his care for the next 27 years and
until 2018 when he ultimately made the decision to sell the
Cobra. The Cobra has since been completely detailed and
corrected in nearly every way. In 2019 the Cobra was judged at the
National Shelby American Automobile Club convention in Pittsburgh
by the most knowledgeable Cobra authorities. It was scored Gold In
Survivor Class (a class for original paint cars
only). This 427 is an extremely rare example that has
somehow evaded what the vast majority of Cobras have not. It has
never been modified, It has never been damaged, and still retains
its original paint, Complete interior, Body, Engine, Transmission
and Rear end. Detailed to the highest level and with many parts
which are impossible to find, it comes complete with the following
items which originally came with a Cobra: Soft top, Tonneau Cover,
Side Windows, Jack, Grease Gun, 427 Manual, and a near perfect
reproduction tool kit. Also included are several bits and
parts which we affectionately label as relatively "unobtainable" to
include: An original 427 Manual - Original Blue Dot Tires (Made for
427 Cobra's only) - Original Spark Plug Wires- Original
Weatherstrip - Original Soft Top, Side Curtains, Tonneau Cover-

stored should a future owner choose to return it to absolutely
original condition, even its original wheels and tires, still
holding air can be reinstalled. A wonderful entrant for any
preservation concours around the world, including The Pebble
Concours d'Elegance. This represents an extremely rare
opportunity to own a documented, original, award winning and
unmodified 427 Cobra and just 1 of 260 Street cars ever produced.
