The Firebird got a big boost in 1998 when Pontiac replaced the old LT1 with the LS1 V8, the same all-aluminum engine family that would go on to power countless performance cars. This 1999 Trans Am carries that engine, and it has been taken much further with a thoroughly built drivetrain. All motor work and tuning were done by Big D's Performance.

Finished in Pewter Metallic, this Trans Am has a sleek, serious look that suits its performance personality. A Circle D 10.25 inch converter with a 3200 stall is paired with the 4 speed automatic, and Speed Engineering 1 7/8 inch headers feed a true dual exhaust with an X pipe. The rear end has a 4.10 posi with a DTS differential girdle, and UMI subframe connectors and a strut tower brace help the chassis handle the extra power. The Y82 RPO code identifies this car as a genuine Trans Am.
