Ferrari unveiled the 488 GTB at the Geneva Motor Show in March
2015, bringing turbocharging back to a mid-engine V8 berlinetta for
the first time since the F40. Successor to the celebrated 458
Italia, it carried a name rooted in Maranello tradition. The figure
488 marks the displacement per cylinder in cubic centimeters, while
GTB recalls the Gran Turismo Berlinetta badge worn by the 308 GTB
of 1975.
The car's 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 is rated at 661 horsepower
and 561 lb-ft of torque. Ferrari's engineers worked to preserve the
crisp throttle response and soaring note of the naturally aspirated
cars, managing torque delivery through each gear to keep the power
progressive. The effort paid off; the engine was named the overall
International Engine of the Year in 2016, and through a seven-speed
F1 dual-clutch transmission it carries the 488 GTB to 62 mph in 3.0
seconds and on to a top speed of 205 mph. The Ferrari Styling
Centre gave the car deep, divided side intakes that nod to the 308
GTB. At the rear, a blown spoiler adds downforce without the drag
of a large fixed wing.
This 488 GTB was first registered in Washington state in November
2017 and has remained with its original owner since. It is finished
in Rosso Corsa with a Nero leather interior, a combination its
owner sharpened with a run of Giallo details. Yellow brake calipers
sit behind 20-inch forged wheels in a dark painted finish. Inside,
Giallo stitching and a yellow rev counter set off the black
hides.
Carbon fiber was specified generously for dramatic effect. Outside,
it forms the front spoiler, side air splitters, rear air ducts, and
underdoor covers. In the cabin, it lines the dash inserts and
central bridge and shapes the LED-equipped driver zone. The order
also included the sport exhaust system, a suspension lifter, the
Adaptive Frontlight System, full electric seats, and the premium
hi-fi system. The car shows under 1,000 miles at the time of
cataloging, backed by a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, and it
received a fresh battery during a maintenance inspection in
Lynnwood, Washington, in September 2026.
Few one-owner examples arrive with so little use. This example's
twin-turbo V8 has barely been asked for its best, leaving nearly
every mile of that relentless 661-horsepower surge, razor-sharp
steering, and sport exhaust soundtrack still to be enjoyed.
