Created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of McLaren's historic
victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, the P1 GTR transformed the
already formidable P1 into an uncompromising track monster. The
P1's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter hybrid V8 was injected with an
additional 83 horsepower to deliver an incredible combined output
of 986 horsepower, while extensive weight-saving measures helped
shed approximately 110 pounds from the P1's already impressive curb
weight. The P1 GTR's distinct aerodynamic refinements, including
its pronounced front splitter and fixed rear wing, helped it
generate 10 percent more downforce than the road-going P1. Further
purpose-built upgrades included a revised track-optimized
suspension and bespoke Inconel titanium exhaust system. All 58
examples of the P1 GTR were originally intended strictly for
circuit use, but the prospect of experiencing the GTR on public
roads would soon become a reality.
That transformation fell naturally to Lanzante Limited, who had not
only helped deliver McLaren their storied win at Le Mans with the
Lanzante Motorsport-ran F1 GTR chassis 01R, but had spent the next
two decades converting the crop of customer F1 GTRs for road use.
It was fate then that enabled Lanzante to develop a road conversion
kit for the P1 GTR; Lanzante's first contemporary road-going
conversion series. Beyond ticking the necessary boxes to make the
car road-worthy, Lanzante carefully refined the cars to subtly
increase driving comfort, though retaining the P1 GTR's wild
performance and character. Crucially, the road modifications were
engineered to be fully reversible; preserving the option to return
the P1 GTR to its original, track-only configuration.
This 2015 McLaren P1 GTR is a left-hand drive example and the 28th
GTR converted for road use by Lanzante. P1 GTR chassis 018 is
finished in an evocative arrangement of matte black with red
accents and center stripe over a spartan carbon fiber and Alcantara
interior. The accompanying invoice from Lanzante indicates that
this example specifically underwent a U.S. Road Conversion with 197
miles shown at the time of conversion, and was also fitted with a
new fuel tank and Black Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel.
According to its clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, chassis 018
was first registered in Montana in September 2023 and has seen
little use since; having accumulated just 433 miles at cataloging.
In April 2026, the P1 GTR underwent its 11th Year P1 service at
McLaren Beverly Hills which included a replacement of its oil,
brake fluid, and coolant, as well as an inspection of its batteries
and mounting of four new Pirelli P Zero Corsa System 2 tires.
Few cars command such intense aura on road or track as the P1 GTR,
and thanks to its transformation by veteran McLaren specialists
Lanzante Limited, chassis 018 is equipped to make an impression on
either stage. Showing extraordinarily low mileage and freshly
emerged from a comprehensive service, this 2015 McLaren P1 GTR
presents a rare breadth of possibilities for its next custodian:
equally compelling as a centerpiece in a world-class hypercar
collection or head-turning presence at exclusive automotive
gatherings and memorable exotic car rallies, while retaining the
mind-blowing performance to set the timing boards alight at any
formidable racing circuit.
