INTRODUCTION: Only 865 actual miles! This unrestored survivor is in
exceptional original condition. Extremely rare, it's one of just
232 four-speeds produced out of 210,050 Grand Prixs built in 1979!
It had just one owner until 2022 and only two owners total. The
original owner was a Pontiac collector who clearly knew how special
this car was. It's exceptionally well documented, including the
original factory window sticker still attached to the glass, two
build sheets, original glovebox manuals, correspondence from the
original owner and Pontiac, and more. A remarkable opportunity to
own a virtually untouched piece of Pontiac history!
EXTERIOR: It has a handsome, sporty design with its long hood,
short deck, and distinctive Pontiac styling. This car has been
remarkably well preserved! Keep in mind, despite the incredibly low
mileage, this is still a 47 year old car, and it's completely
original. Yet it looks practically new! The body is absolutely
straight, without so much as a garage ding. Of course, there's no
rust, and it's still wearing 100% of its factory applied Starlight
Black paint, verified with a paint meter. The finish is smooth and
glossy. All the weatherstrips and seals are still soft, and the
glass is crystal clear. The chrome and moldings are straight and
shiny. It's equipped with optional body side moldings, bumper
guards, and deluxe wheel covers. Believe it or not, it's still
riding on its original tires! Think they still have the original
air in them?
INTERIOR: The blue interior is a beautiful contrast against the
Starlight Black exterior, and when I say it's virtually flawless, I
mean it! From the carpet to the headliner, everything is original
and in outstanding condition. But beyond the incredible time
capsule condition, the real excitement is the bucket seats, center
console, and, of course, that extremely rare Hurst four-speed
shifter sticking out of the floor! It's never been smoked in; the
cigarette lighter and ashtray have never been used. It also
features the optional gauge package, lamp group and acoustical
insulation. Feel free to inspect every inch of this interior for
yourself and see if you can prove me wrong!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is the original 4.9-liter V8
with a factory four-barrel carburetor. It is absolutely bone stock
and runs as smoothly as a Rolex watch! The engine compartment
presents itself exceptionally well. It's tidy, detailed, and
completely authentic, with nothing modified. Of course, the battery
has been replaced, but it even has a reproduction battery topper
for that factory appearance. Features include power steering and
power brakes. All the correct hoses and clamps are in place, the
windshield squirters are hooked up, and the hood insulation pad,
heat riser tube, and air cleaner ductwork are all intact. Even the
original vacuum lines and emissions equipment are still there. It's
all complete, just as you'd expect from an 865-mile survivor.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: I often use the expression "clean and complete,"
but this one is spotless and untouched! Under the trunk lid and in
the jamb is the original smooth, glossy black finish. The original
weatherstrip is as soft as the day it was born. Inside is
absolutely pristine, with its original trunk mat, working trunk
light, and complete jack and spare tire assembly that most likely
has never even been out of the car. It's a true time capsule!
UNDERSIDE: Exceptionally well preserved! Even the original assembly
line markings are still visible. It has front disc brakes, and the
emergency brake is still hooked up. The exhaust system is in
excellent condition. Looking up at the motor, it's clean and tidy.
It retains its original four-speed transmission and even has a Posi
rear end! The original floors are rock solid, with their factory
undercoating still in excellent shape. The frame and chassis are
smooth and exceptionally well preserved. It's just as impressive
underneath as it is on top!
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: Obviously, you're not going to find another one like
this. That goes without saying! The four-speed alone makes it
incredibly rare, but the 865 actual miles are downright ridiculous!
You can restore a car as many times as you want, but it's only
original once. This is a true time capsule and an opportunity that
may never come around again!
