Few cars capture the spirit of American muscle quite like the
second-generation Chevrolet Camaro. This 1972 example builds on
that legacy with an extensive ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration
combining classic styling with modern performance. Finished in
striking Red Hot paint with contrasting black accents, this Camaro
has been carefully crafted with an emphasis on power, handling, and
attention to detail.
At the heart of this build is a professionally built White Racing
383 stroker V8, reportedly producing 532 horsepower according to
the previous owner. Featuring Eagle rotating components, aluminum
cylinder heads, a performance roller camshaft, and a Quick Fuel
carburetor, this small-block delivers serious muscle car
performance. A custom stainless steel exhaust with electronic
cutouts provides an unmistakable V8 soundtrack, while a built TCI
700R4 automatic overdrive transmission and 3.73 Posi-Traction rear
end put the power to the pavement.
The driving experience has been transformed with Hotchkis
suspension components, adjustable VariShock coilovers, and a Chris
Alston four-link rear suspension. Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes
and upgraded power steering provide improved control, while
staggered American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels wrapped in
BFGoodrich tires give the Camaro its aggressive stance.
The exterior retains the iconic second-generation Camaro styling
with a collection of tasteful custom touches. A cowl-induction hood
with custom vents, Ringbrothers billet hinges, split front bumper,
custom grille, blacked-out trim, front and rear spoilers, and
upgraded LED lighting complete its distinctive appearance.
Inside, the custom black and red interior features Braum bucket
seats with four-point harnesses, a Chris Alston half roll cage,
custom steering wheel, and modern instrumentation. Vintage Air
climate control, power windows, and a Jensen touchscreen with
Bluetooth, navigation, backup camera, and upgraded JVC audio bring
modern comfort to the classic cockpit. The custom trunk features
concealed dual Optima batteries, integrated storage, and LED
lighting.
The quality of this build extends beneath the surface with upgraded
cooling, stainless steel fuel and brake lines, powder-coated
chassis components, and custom-fabricated details throughout.
Combining classic Camaro styling, serious V8 performance, and
modern driving comfort, this 1972 Camaro is a well-executed
restomod that offers an exciting take on one of Chevrolet's most
iconic muscle cars.
