1964 Ford 1/2 Mustang for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to
present this rare, investment-grade piece of American automotive
history: this low-mileage 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang D-Code Coupe.
Assembled at the iconic Dearborn River Rouge complex just seven
weeks after Lee Iacocca's World's Fair launch, this "first wave"
survivor shows just 21,831 miles on the odometer. Documented with a
scheduled build date of June 6, 1964-the 20th anniversary of
D-Day-and delivered new through the San Jose, California district
(DSO 72), it has spent its life in a dry, salt-free western
climate, preserving its pristine, rust-free floor pans and
structural integrity. Under the hood sits the highly desirable,
5-month-only factory D-Code 289ci 4-barrel V8 producing 210 hp and
300 lb-ft of torque, paired with a factory 4-speed manual gearbox
with reverse lockout and purist manual steering. Over $7,300 was
recently invested in mechanical refinements, including a full front
and rear suspension overhaul with premium bushings, ball joints,
performance-calibrated shocks, a heavy-duty front sway bar, and a
comprehensive brake system refresh for modern driving
confidence. The exterior is finished in factory-correct Caspian Blue
Metallic (Code H), highlighting a laser-straight body with uniform
panel gaps, brilliant chrome bumpers, polished rocker moldings, and
authentic 1964 1/2 Dearborn-specific beveled headlight buckets.
Inside, the cabin features a high-contrast Two-Tone White Crinkle
Vinyl interior with blue piping (Trim Code 42), framed by a dark
blue dashboard pad, blue low-loop carpeting, blue seatbelts, and a
three-spoke steering wheel. Rare factory options include a
full-length 4-speed center console and a column-mounted Rally-Pac
featuring a clock and tachometer, complemented by the correct
horizontal speedometer and early red "GEN" warning light. Decoding
perfectly to its original Door Data Plate (65A H 42 06F 72), this
turnkey, fully sorted classic is turn-key ready for immediate show
exhibition, weekend rallies, or a premier museum collection. Your
inspection is invited!
