These cars are built on custom shortened, reconditioned VW chassis with a reinforced steel sub frame. The hand laid fiberglass body is top quality and workmanship is second to none. We had this 356 Speedster custom built brand new for a customer in December 2020. He lovedPorsche color called Gentian Blue Metallic that Porsche used n the 911’s fr0m 2020-2025 so we matched that color for him. He had a vision of an eye catching Speedster with a European flair so he added the white wall tires to his build. The finished product looked amazing and he and his wife have enjoyed driving it for the past 6 years. They lived in the Chicago area so driving season was relatively short but they got it out whenever they could. They decided they had their fun and it was time to pass this beauty on to the next lucky owner to enjoy so they asked me to find her a new home. Of Course I said yes and had the car transported to us here in Alpharetta , GA and it is ready for some amazing fall driving without the wait time of a new build.
This beauty will definitively stand out wherever you go and the fit and finish most likely exceeds the original.. The body is adorned with Porsche badging on the nose, rear and dash. Paint and body are near flawless with just a few very tiny rock chips on the passenger side door and a couple really small ones on the hood. This one has the tear drop taillights. Front driving lights really help when driving at night on poorly lit streets.
I always recommend driving these cars top down but of course it also has a like new black canvas soft top. Window inserts are also provided. This one was also offered with the Full Tonneau cover which zips down the center.
Complementing the glistening Gentian Blue Metallic exterior is an equally stunning Mahogany colored leather interior. The Speedster seats are very comfortable. Matching dash pad and passenger side grab handle. Period correct VDO gauges with GPS Speedometer and a digital odometer allow the driver to monitor the speed and performance of this air cooled Speedster. Beautiful woodgrain steering wheel with a vintage style turn signal lever adds to the authenticity. This 356 is also optioned with heated seats for both driver and passenger for those of you in cooler climates. Retrosound Bluetooth stereo with speakers neatly mounted under dash and an added charging port mounted under dash as well. Sporty Aluminum race pedals fill the drivers footwell. Shelf pad behind the front seats. Authentic Black German Square weave carpeting throughout and finished off with a set of coco mats!!! The interior shows close to new.
Turn the key and let the fun begin!!! As impressed as I was with the cosmetic improvements on these new builds I am equally impressed with the performance these builds offer. With just under 1500 miles this Speedster runs and drives like it did when we first delivered it a little under 6 years ago. The 1915 cc. is a brand new, fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance.Originally Rated at 110 hp with the dual Kadron carburetors and 8.2:1 compression ratio this motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 4:12 with :82 4th gear ring and pinion freeway flyer type. This combination provides nice torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph. Empi 5 lug 5x205mm 4 wheel disc brakes stop this Speedster precisely with ease. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled, Polished Vintage 190 Aluminum 5 lug wheels with emblem hub caps look great. Nice tone from the dual tip exhaust.
The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time. Inside the trunk is fully carpeted with matching German Square Weave carpeting.
