This late-production 1986 Porsche 928 S combines Porsche?s
5.0-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 with a four-speed automatic rear
transaxle. Built in June 1986 and commonly referred to as a
?1986.5? model, it represents the later and more powerful version
of the U.S.-market 928 S.Originally finished in Guards Red, known
as Indischrot in Porsche?s German factory documentation, this
example retains its factory paint code 027 and features a tan
leather interior. The odometer currently shows 83,380 miles. The
grand-touring cabin features power-adjustable front seats, power
windows, power locks, power mirrors, air conditioning, cruise
control and the 928?s distinctive driver-focused instrument pod and
center console. During inspection, the vehicle?s primary features
and accessories appeared to operate as intended. The car is
currently fitted with polished Porsche wheels, and a set of
original silver-finished wheels is also included. Additional
upgrades include Koni rear coilovers and a custom stainless-steel
exhaust system without mufflers that retains the catalytic
converters. An engine oil and filter service was recently
completed. The tires remain in good visual condition and carry
49th-week-of-2021 date codes. The Guards Red exterior presents well
overall, with several minor paint blemishes and areas on the
passenger-side mirror where the finish appears to have been
polished through. An approximately two-inch tear is present low on
the rear bumper. The tan interior shows age-consistent wear,
including wear to the front seats and a small tear measuring
approximately one-eighth inch along the top of the driver-side door
panel. The exterior driver-side door handle is also finicky in
operation. An underside inspection noted minor engine-area oil
seepage, dampness around the transmission pan and a dry-rotted and
cracked passenger-side steering-rack boot. These observations are
disclosed for transparency and should be considered when planning
future maintenance.With its front-mounted V8, rear-mounted
transaxle, distinctive styling and comfortable 2+2 interior, this
928 S delivers the balanced road manners and long-distance
capability that established Porsche?s flagship grand tourer as one
of the most technically advanced performance cars of its
