For Sale: 1967 Pontiac Firebird in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

INTRODUCTION: This is a Pontiac Historical Services documented, genuine Firebird 400 with a factory 4-speed and its original color combination! Although it retains a correct 400 engine, it's been bored and stroked to a 496, pumping out an impressive 550 horsepower! It's backed by an M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed and a posi rear end. Not only is this Firebird a great looking muscle car, but it's an absolute blast to drive!

EXTERIOR: What a handsome body style, the dual scoop 400 hood gives it that unmistakable Pontiac muscle car look. The body is straight and clean, finished in its original, very nostalgic Verdoro Green Metallic. The metallic is laid out evenly, and the clear coat is polished smooth and glossy. I especially like the clean look without a vinyl top. Both bumpers have been rechromed, some emblems look new and the rest of the trim presents nicely. It's upgraded with Holley LED low-beam headlights for better visibility. It's sitting on restored 14x7 Rally wheels with new trim rings, reproduction center caps, and lug nuts.

INTERIOR: I think the factory Pearl White against the Verdoro Green exterior is a stunning combination. The carpet looks fresh and is protected by reproduction floor mats. The center console looks brand new, with a Hurst shifter sticking out of it. The seats have been re-cushioned and reupholstered, and the seat backs have been replaced. The door panels and armrests were replaced, along with the headliner and rearview mirror. It also has the correct mesh rear package shelf. The dash area looks very good, including a fresh looking heater control panel. It has an original deluxe steering wheel and has been upgraded with a hot rod style column mounted tachometer and auxiliary oil pressure and water temperature gauges below the dash. A retro stereo adds modern convenience while maintaining the vintage look. It also has a new glove box liner and includes an owner's manual.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: There's a real romping motor under the hood, pumping out an impressive 550 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque! It started as an actual date code correct 400 engine that's been bored and stroked to 496 cubic inches. It's packed with performance upgrades, including forged pistons, Eagle crankshaft and H-beam rods, billet 4-bolt main caps, and a high-volume oil pump. The ported Kaufman Racing D-port aluminum heads are paired with a port-matched Kaufman Racing intake and water crossover. Fuel is delivered through a Holley 850 CFM dual-feed carburetor. The valvetrain features a Howard's Big Mama Rattler hydraulic roller camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, aluminum roller rockers, Trick Flow pushrods, and a Howard's billet double-roller timing set. Additional upgrades include a Kaufman Racing timing cover, PowerBond harmonic balancer, Summit Racing billet distributor, and multi-spark discharge ignition. An aluminum water pump and radiator help keep this powerhouse cool, along with the factory fan shroud. It's dressed up with chrome Moroso valve covers, breathers, and a matching air cleaner. Even the windshield wipers have been upgraded with a Newport Engineering system. This is one serious Pontiac powerplant!

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are neatly painted to match the exterior. Inside is clean, solid metal with a fresh spatter finish. The weatherstrip has been replaced, along with the correct reproduction decals, giving the trunk a fresh, factory style appearance.

UNDERSIDE: The steering and suspension appear to have been gone through. Up front, the springs and shocks look fresh. In back, it has replacement mono-leaf springs, new shocks, and Calvert Racing traction bars. The brake system has been serviced, including front disc brakes and a custom emergency brake assembly. The great sounding Pypes 3-inch exhaust features an X-pipe. The fuel tank was replaced and it is using an Edelbrock Performer mechanical fuel pump. Looking up at the motor, there's an extra capacity oil pan and a Powermaster high torque starter. It's equipped with a AutoGear reproduction Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed, paired with a street performance clutch and a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. Out back is a Moser 12-bolt rear end with a Muscle Pack 3.55 posi. New body bushings and the floors appear to be clean, solid metal neatly painted black.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.

CONCLUSION: It's pure nostalgia! The classic Firebird 400 in Verdoro Green with Rally II wheels captures the look of Pontiac's muscle car glory days. But get behind the wheel, turn the key, and fire up that 550-horsepower engine- that's when the real fun begins!
