THE KING OF THE HILL! This is an exceptional 1990 Chevrolet
Corvette ZR-1 with only 26,427 miles, and it comes with excellent
factory documentation showing exactly how special this car is. This
is ZR-1 #1,854 of only 3,049 ZR-1s built for the 1990 model year,
making this an especially desirable example of Chevrolet's
legendary supercar.
The heart of the ZR-1 is the legendary 5.7L LT5 V8, one of the most
technologically advanced American engines of its era. This is no
ordinary small-block. The LT5 is an all-aluminum, 32-valve,
dual-overhead-cam V8 with 16 fuel injectors, developed with Lotus
Engineering and built for the ZR-1. For 1990, it produced an
incredible 375 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque.
The LT5 completely transformed the Corvette. Chevrolet literally
positioned the ZR-1 as its "King of the Hill," and it was built to
challenge the world's best European performance cars. Chevrolet's
own historical material highlights the ZR-1's 175+ MPH capability,
while period testing showed just how serious these cars were.
This particular ZR-1 has been further enhanced with a performance
chip, throttle bypass, and Borla exhaust, giving the already-potent
LT5 an even more aggressive performance character. It also has a
new starter and new spark plugs.
The exterior is absolutely stunning. The Bright Red paint has been
ceramic coated and looks like glass. The tires are like new, and
the car comes with a car cover. It also has the original "pizza
box" and the factory removable roof setup.
The original factory documentation confirms the ZR-1 Special
Performance Package, C2L Dual Removable Roof Panels, C68 Electronic
Air Conditioning, NN5 California Emissions, and 64S Bronze
Removable Roof Panel. The documentation also shows the original
Bright Red exterior with Black Leather Adjustable Sport Seats and
the 6-speed manual transmission.
The factory ZR-1 package included an impressive list of performance
equipment, including the LT5 5.7L DOHC 32-valve V8, P315/35ZR-17
rear tires, 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear aluminum wheels, specific
ZR-1 rear fascia and stop lamps, performance handling equipment,
selective ride and handling, and specific ZR-1 body panels. The
documentation also confirms leather adjustable sport seats, 6-way
power seats, low tire pressure warning, Delco Bose Gold Series
CD/cassette stereo, and solar glass.
Inside, the Black Leather interior is in showroom condition. The
A/C blows cold, headlamps work, radio works, power seat works,
power windows work, and the power hatch works.
The original window sticker is another fantastic piece of
documentation. It shows a $31,979 base price, with the $27,016 ZR-1
Special Performance Package, plus the dual removable roof panels,
electronic A/C, and California emissions equipment. That ZR-1
package alone represented an enormous premium over a standard
Corvette.
This is a seriously special Corvette. 26,427 miles, LT5 power,
6-speed manual, Bright Red over Black Leather, dual removable roof
panels, incredible cosmetics, extensive factory documentation, and
only 3,049 ZR-1s produced in 1990. Finding another one with this
combination of mileage, equipment, condition, and documentation is
getting harder every year.
