When Ferrari opened the order books for its new flagship, the
outcome was never in doubt. All 499 examples were claimed before
the first was completed. One American collector recalled being
asked to submit a multipage autobiography simply to be considered
for an allocation. With demand like that, Maranello could have
offered almost anything and still sold out. Instead, it built the
most capable road car in the company's history to that point.
LaFerrari followed the 288 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo, and was the
first of the marque's flagship road cars to join a naturally
aspirated V12 with Formula 1-derived hybrid technology. Its
6.3-liter engine produced 789 horsepower, and a 161-horsepower
electric motor filled in beneath it for a combined 950 horsepower.
At Fiorano, the LaFerrari lapped the track in one minute and 20
seconds-five seconds quicker than the Enzo it replaced and three
seconds quicker than the F12berlinetta, making LaFerrari the
fastest road car Ferrari had yet built. Ferrari quoted a 0-60 mph
time of under three seconds, 0-124 mph in less than seven seconds,
and a top speed in excess of 217 mph. The numbers told only part of
the story, however. Road & Track's Jack Baruth spent two days with
a privately owned example on Ohio back roads and came away
impressed by how readily it adapted to everyday use, reflecting
that "the Ferrari didn't have to be as good as it is."
Chassis number 206520 is one of approximately 120 examples
allocated to the American market. It is finished in the archetypal
combination of Rosso Corsa over Nero leather with Rosso accents and
laden with optional carbon fiber. Most distinctive is a carbon
fiber front fin commissioned through Ferrari's Atelier program,
joined by carbon fiber lower bodywork, mirror holders, rear fog
lamp surround, and wheel center caps. The optional sport exhaust,
Rosso calipers, and black-finished wheels complete the cohesive
red-and-black livery.
The color scheme is carried inside through a Rosso livery on the
matte carbon-fiber dashboard, joined by Cavallinos stitched into
the Nero leather seats. The track camera kit records the car's
capabilities from over the passenger's shoulder, and the front
suspension lifter makes it far more practical on steep driveways
and ramps. Two personal touches complete the cockpit, a dedication
plaque etched with "Razor 2" on the steering wheel and an American
flag on the dashboard.
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report records that chassis
206520 was delivered new in November 2014 through Wide World of
Cars in Spring Valley, New York. It was subsequently registered in
Montana, with Wide World and Ferrari of West Palm Beach looking
after it during its early years. In 2019 the LaFerrari moved to
California, where it was reportedly owned by recording artist Tyga
and later by producer Swizz Beatz. Throughout the early 2020s, the
car saw continued routine maintenance by Ferrari South Bay, Ferrari
of Fort Lauderdale, and Ferrari of San Diego. Most recently, in
October 2026, a visit to Ferrari of San Diego saw the car undergo
its 25,000-mile-interval service, which included a new alternator.
The LaFerrari is further accompanied by a two-year Certified
Pre-Owned warranty, which extends to its hybrid battery and remains
in effect until October 2028.
Displaying 5,439 miles at the time of cataloging, the car is
presented in commensurately well-preserved condition with its
original accessories. These include the Ferrari-branded battery
charger, a fitted indoor car cover, and the original tools.
Together with the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, LaFerrari
formed the celebrated "big three" that ushered hybridization into
the hypercar world, and with it, a level of performance never
before seen in a road car. LaFerrari was intensely coveted from the
moment it was announced, and it remains so today. An example so
classically specified, with numerous desirable options, low
mileage, and dealer maintenance throughout its life, represents
precisely what collectors seek in this landmark model.
