"The revving engines, the roar of horsepower, and the unmistakable
style of a sleek customized vehicle tearing down the road - these
are the defining characteristics of hot rods. Originating in the
early 20th century, hot rods have evolved from humble beginnings
into a vibrant subculture that continues to captivate automobile
enthusiasts worldwide. Street rods, also known as "street machines"
or "street customs", are similar to hot rods in that they are
modified vintage American cars. However, street rods tend to have a
more refined and modernized appearance. Street rod enthusiasts
often use more contemporary components and technology to enhance
performance, safety, and comfort." Bienerford.com
For consignment, a 1930 Ford Model A standard coupe showing 8,318
miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption.
This street rodded version now packs a 350ci V8 and some 90's era
Centerline wheels.
Exterior
Like a Harbinger of summer and good times, this street rod is
bathed in a bath of two stage Plum Purple paint, exceedingly shiny
and dark with near flawless coverage. No engine covers to obscure
the showy powerplant and a glossy black trunk in back add to the
visual appeal. She's got just the right rake thanks in part to the
staggered size tires on the 15-inch Centerline Fluted Hawk wheels
that contribute to an overall smooth profile. A paint matched visor
is at the end of the roofline, most of which is covered in textured
black vinyl in great condition. The grille shell is smooth and
headlights are perched on a bar that bridges the fenders while
marker lights have been added underneath. The paint, body and trim
are great with minor imperfections that include just two
scratches.
Interior
Mauve and gray seem like a logical choice here and the tweed
coverage begins cleanly on the doors, both in great shape and each
with electric window switches. Bucket seats maintain the material
and colors and are situated amongst mauve covered walls. In fact,
no surface has been spared as the dashboard is also covered in
lavender tweed in a unique configuration rarely seen, and home to
VDO gauges, an AM/FM/CD radio, and vents for the Vintage Air
system. Ahead of the dash is a wood rimmed banjo style steering
wheel and on the floor, a Lokar shifter flanked by speakers within
the tweed footwell walls. The clean parade continues under the rear
hatch where the trunk is fully finished in tweed.
Drivetrain
Clean metal dresses the 350ci V8 up front with aluminum heads and a
Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It's backed by a 700R4 4-speed
automatic transmission that routes power to the Ford 9" in back in
an often seen union of GM and Ford. Headers are on board as well as
power brakes and air conditioning.
Undercarriage
Wonderfully clean and just about show worthy underneath where dual
exhaust travels through stainless steel mufflers before dumping
under the car. Heat shields and wrap dress the run of the left
exhaust pipe. Power brakes are here as front disc and rear drum and
suspension includes coil overs at both ends with the help of a 4
link in back.
Drive-Ability
This solid little A goes through the paces without a hiccup; she
runs well, sounds great, and tracks straight, except when braking
at which point the car pulls right. Beyond that, this nice build
works exceptionally well including all functions on board. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Not much not to love here; clean at every angle and on the inside,
room for your cooler and foldable chairs, and an extra seat for the
guest of your choosing, or none at all! Essentially, a turnkey show
car and cruise night special, even on those hot nights when you can
crank the A/C!
