For Sale: 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Pembroke, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

FACTORY T-TOPS!

Here we have another offering from our 'garage sale lot'. I bought this car with a couple of other collectibles with all intentions to bring it to the next level as I thought it deserved. Reality is winter is closing in, I have less indoor space than I previously had so this Monte is relegated to outside storage which isn't fair and I just won't have the time. So here is what I know...

The most recent elderly owner of this car purchased it way back in 1992! It was a second car for him and his wife to enjoy. Said by his family to have been his pride and joy. What makes this car so appealing is that this car is a FACTORY equipped t-top car and it's not an SS. Try to find one comparable. You'll have a hard time and ones I found in very good shape where selling in the 20K's. This is a LS model so it's got some luxury like the plush bench seats, power windows and locks, A/C and remote sport mirrors. The odometer shows a low 90,167 miles too! The car is very original and CLEAN. I can't find any rust anywhere. A super clean body and sheet metal. Yes, this is a V8 car too with a 305 V8 under the hood from the factory.

We rescued this car from the garage it was inhabiting for about a year, untouched. We charged the battery, shot a few squirts of starting fluid in the carb and literally drove this car an hour back to the shop on the highway with the only issue present was a small vibration over 65 MPH, probably due to a flat spotted tire. That's it. The car now is completely turn key. Starts every time (After hitting the aftermarket kill switch wired to the rear defroster switch. Don't ask me how long it look us to figure that out!) and runs smooth. We didn't totally go through this car mechanically but can tell you it was last serviced sometime during 2025.

So in the light of full transparency and the super low asking, I'm compelled to tell you the down side. The car was repainted it's original burgundy at some point and was very obviously done at a MAACO type establishment. It's presentable as you can see but far far from perfect. Probably a 4 out of 10. There are no noticeable major dents but many small knicks and scratches throughout. Also, I believe the original landau roof was probably burgundy and someone had the bright idea to dye it white at some point. The interior is complete but as you can see the front bench seat is completely sun drenched from being exposed to those t-tops all these years. The back seat is far better. Also, the headliner is being held up with tacks as most are by now. The power door locks work when they want to and the A/C, although all hooked up is inoperable. Most importantly, there is an obvious smell of rodents inhabiting the interior at some point. It's gotten better but still very much there. Most of what I mention can be resolved by a DIY type person. You have the ability to bring this car up to a much higher standard for not a lot of money. Use it and enjoy it. You'll probably never find another one so reasonably priced.  Oh, and you won't believe this but the factory clock still ticks and keeps time!

Check out the over 100 photos in the gallery link below. Also, I have a walk around video I can share with any serious party showing the car and it starting and running.

Reach out and ask any questions. I can easily arrange transport also.
