The 356A Convertible D was Porsche's successor to the legendary
Speedster, combining its lightweight sporting character with
greater comfort and usability. Built by German coachbuilder Drauz,
the Convertible D featured a taller windshield, roll-up windows,
and an improved convertible top. The "D" designation refers to
Drauz.
Produced for only the 1958-1959 period, just approximately 1,330
examples were built, making the Convertible D one of the rarest
production variants of the 356. This example, chassis 85622, is
further distinguished by its Super 1600 engine and is accompanied
by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
