For Sale: 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk in Washington , New Jersey

Vehicle Description

1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk Restomod – 327 V8 – Panther Pink

Offered for sale is a beautifully executed 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk Restomod, finished in striking Panther Pink with a custom silver metallic diamond-quilted vinyl interior. Personally restored in 1996 by its longtime owner, a lifetime member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, this distinctive Hawk remained in his ownership for 30 years, until his passing in 2026.

Built to be driven and enjoyed rather than simply displayed, this Silver Hawk combines classic 1950s styling with upgraded performance, comfort, and drivability.

Engine & Drivetrain

Power comes from a rebuilt Chevrolet 327 cubic-inch V8, documented at 300 horsepower and equipped with stainless steel valves. The engine is paired with an upgraded GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission and a Mopar 8¾-inch rear axle with 3.23 gearing.

Additional mechanical upgrades include a stainless steel dual exhaust system and front disc brakes.

The car runs and drives exceptionally well, with no known mechanical issues.

Exterior & Interior

The distinctive Panther Pink exterior is complemented by extensive chrome brightwork and the unmistakable tailfins of the 1959 Silver Hawk. The vehicle is rust-free and has been garage-kept continuously since its 1996 restoration.

Inside, the custom silver metallic diamond-quilted vinyl upholstery covers the front and rear seating surfaces, complemented by matching door panels and coordinated interior trim. The metallic silver finish gives the interior a distinctive appearance that complements the Panther Pink exterior.

A custom engine-turned dashboard features Stewart-Warner instrumentation, including a speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.

Additional features include:

  • Fully functional, ice-cold air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • Custom Autosound stereo system
  • Floor-mounted automatic shifter
  • Front and rear bench seating
  • Seat belts

Ownership & Restoration History

A lifelong Studebaker enthusiast and lifetime member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, the owner personally restored this Silver Hawk in 1996 and continued to enjoy it for the next three decades.

Built as a true driver's car, the Hawk was regularly driven throughout each year's car show season, consistently maintained, and periodically started or driven during the winter months rather than being left unused for extended periods.

Originally equipped with an 85-horsepower inline-six engine, automatic transmission, and beige exterior, the car was extensively upgraded during its restoration while preserving its classic Studebaker character.

Mileage

The original instrumentation was replaced during the 1996 restoration with Stewart-Warner gauges and a replacement odometer.

The current odometer displays approximately 17,839 miles, representing mileage accumulated since the 1996 restoration. The vehicle's total lifetime mileage is unknown. The New Jersey title records a different mileage figure with an actual-mileage designation.

Overall Condition

The Silver Hawk is rust-free, mechanically sound, and in excellent running and driving condition, with no known mechanical issues.

With its Chevrolet 327 V8, overdrive transmission, upgraded front disc brakes, ice-cold air conditioning, and distinctive Panther Pink and silver metallic color combination, this Restomod offers an excellent balance of classic styling and modernized drivability.

A unique opportunity to own a personally restored, enthusiast-maintained Studebaker Silver Hawk with 30 years of continuous ownership history.
