Rare Mercedes-Benz G36 AMG for sale
The G-Class was introduced in 1979 as a rugged off-road vehicle, developed by Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz. The more luxurious W463 series followed in 1990, transforming the G-Class from a workhorse into a highly sought-after luxury off-roader. In the mid-1990s, a new partnership between Mercedes-Benz and AMG gave rise to the G36 AMG. This was the first G-Class to receive the AMG treatment directly from the factory, serving as the precursor to all the high-performance G-Class models that followed. With only 120 units ever produced, it remains one of the rarest G-Class models in existence. Under the hood lies a 3.6-liter inline-six engine, paired with an automatic transmission. Permanent four-wheel drive and three engageable differential locks ensure that this G36 AMG remains a true off-road vehicle. The maintenance history for this specific car is available, as are the original manuals. The odometer reads 94,603 kilometers, and the vehicle is in very good condition. The silver-grey paintwork accentuates the clean, angular lines of the G-Class, while the black side trim adds a sporty touch. The five-spoke AMG alloy wheels, stainless steel running boards, and the spare wheel cover—complete with an AMG emblem—on the rear door make it immediately clear that this is no ordinary G-Class. The round headlights and bumper-integrated fog lights preserve its classic, iconic face. Inside, you are greeted by a black leather interior, featuring electrically adjustable seats and leather-trimmed door panels. The steering wheel and gear knob, both finished in wood, complement the wooden accents found on the dashboard and center console—the latter also housing the controls for the differential locks. Cruise control, power windows, and a sunroof round out the equipment list. The combination of black leather and warm wood lends the interior a luxurious, classic feel, which contrasts beautifully with the cool silver-grey of the exterior. A rare AMG pioneer that is just as at home on the boulevard as it is off-road.
