INTRODUCTION: I have for sale a 1979 Trans Am. This is the model used in the movie Smokie and the Bandit. This car is certainly Collector car grade if not Museum quality grade. It is very, very nice. All original. Numbers matching, one of only 9,874 built, not many survive. Build date was January 1979. It is the Y84 Special Edition with the coveted Fischer T-top body, 4 wheel disc brakes, 403 cu 6.6 liter producing 185 horsepower. It is driven by a Turbo 350 automatic with speed shifting through the gears. The suspension is the original WS-6 special suspension. It has 50,445 miles on it. The car was just tuned, belts, brakes, battery, fluids just checked or changed. I have the original owners manual, original repair manual, original window sticker, invoice and build sheet. It has GPS installed to know exactly where it is at all times, when it is started and it can be turned off remotely. Battery cutoff installed for storing purposes. Custom made California car cover.
EXTERIOR: The car is painted in its original starlight black paint and has been ceramic coated, no need to wax. Unbelievable shine. All original pinstriping with the big Phoenix on the hood and the word Bandit on the drivers side. T-top with the see through smoked lids and they come with a soft carrier for stowing in the trunk. The rims are the sought after snowflake design, gorgeous.
INTERIOR: This beauty has the correct gold dash with gold bird on the steering wheel. Of course, the air conditioning and heater work perfect. I installed a new circuit board, tachometer and clock combo, power window switches, duct housing vent, new rear view mirror and floor mats. The glove box appears to be signed by Burt Reynolds, The Bandit, but I have no provenance on this. I had a Calligraphy expert look at it and he said it was Burts signature, but I don not believe he ever owned the car or driven it. I just don’t know. The car originally came with AM/FM and 8 track tape player. I had the player sent off to be tuned (there are belts that wear out in there) and lubricated. Works perfect. Comes with 8 extra 8-track tapes. What fun. All it needs is a CB radio and a wide open road.
