This 1972 Pontiac Ventura II is the ultimate sleeper, combining
classic muscle car styling with serious performance. Finished in
Omni Base black paint with PPG Concept clear, the car features a
complete rotisserie restoration with original components restored
to factory appearance. Its understated exterior retains the stock
look, including OEM-style steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps, while
hiding a high-performance drivetrain capable of 10-second
quarter-mile times.
Power comes from an 800-horsepower Nickey Performance Stage II LSA
engine producing 850 ft-lbs of torque and 675 rear-wheel
horsepower. The engine is managed by a Holley Terminator X system
with advanced safety features and supported by an upgraded fuel
system, Be-Cool aluminum racing radiator with dual electric fans,
heat exchanger, catch can, and custom stainless cold air intake.
Stainless long-tube headers feed a 3-inch stainless exhaust system
with street-friendly mufflers.
The engine is backed by an SFI-certified Powerglide transmission
with a 4,700-rpm stall converter, Derale transmission cooler with
fan, and TCI Outlaw shifter. An upgraded racing driveshaft with
heavy-duty U-joints and a safety loop transfers power to the
original 10-bolt rear end, upgraded with forged Moser 30-spline
axles, a Detroit Locker, 3.73 gears, and a reinforced differential
cover.
The chassis features QA1 adjustable shocks, a CalTracs traction
system, and subframe connectors for added strength and improved
traction. The suspension is tuned to plant the rear tires with
minimal front-end lift at launch. Front disc brakes and
original-style rear drum brakes provide stopping power, while
Mickey Thompson tires measure 26x6R15LT up front and 225/60R15 in
the rear.
Inside, the Ventura retains its stock bench seat with OEM-replica
seat covers, complemented by a six-point roll bar and five-point
harnesses wrapped in stitched vinyl to match the interior in
keeping with its performance-focused build.
With its factory-inspired appearance and extensively upgraded
powertrain, this 1972 Pontiac Ventura II delivers serious
drag-strip capability without advertising its performance. It is a
purpose-built sleeper that combines vintage Pontiac styling with
modern forced-induction V8 power and carefully selected racing
components.
