This 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback combines one of Ford's most
desirable body styles with a serious collection of performance
upgrades. Finished in bright red PPG paint, the Mustang retains its
unmistakable first-generation styling while presenting with
polished chrome bumpers, bright exterior trim, front grille-mounted
road lamps and the sweeping roofline that made the 2+2 Fastback an
American icon.
Power comes from a built 347ci small-block Ford equipped with
aluminum cylinder heads and a D-1SC ProCharger centrifugal
supercharger. The engine compartment is neatly presented with
polished aluminum valve covers, an MSD ignition system, serpentine
accessory drive, braided lines and a dedicated ProCharger intake
system. An AFCO aluminum radiator supports the upgraded cooling
demands, while ceramic-coated headers feed a dual exhaust system
fitted with Flowmaster mufflers.
A Ford Toploader 4-speed manual transmission puts the driver
directly in control through a Hurst shifter and blowproof
bellhousing. Power is delivered to a Currie 9-inch Ford rear axle,
while a Competition Engineering Slide-A-Link rear suspension helps
manage the additional horsepower. Four-wheel disc brakes provide
upgraded stopping capability to complement the car's
performance.
The Mustang rides on polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels
wrapped in 245/50R16 performance tires with redline detailing. The
combination gives the car a muscular, period-inspired stance
without taking away from its classic fastback profile.
Inside, the black bucket-seat interior remains focused on the
driver. Equipment includes a billet and leather-wrapped steering
wheel, aluminum pedal covers, Hurst shifter, AutoMeter tachometer,
boost/vacuum gauge and additional auxiliary instrumentation. A
RetroSound stereo adds modern audio capability while maintaining a
vintage appearance. The fold-down rear seat converts into an
extended cargo platform, preserving one of the most distinctive and
practical features of the Mustang 2+2.
Documentation accompanying the car includes ProCharger information,
a 1964-1965 Mustang wiring diagram manual and additional records
related to the performance equipment.
With its ProCharged 347, manual Toploader transmission, Currie rear
axle and unmistakable fastback styling, this Mustang is built for
the enthusiast who wants classic looks with considerably more
performance than a stock example.
