Throughout time the Camaro has always been one of the most popular
vehicles to own among collectors and car enthusiasts. They went on
a brief hiatus in 2002 after the 4th generation but came back
strong in 2010 and haven't looked back since. This was the era of
the retro-modern trend where manufacturers were looking back to
their 60s roots for design inspiration. While they stayed true to
their muscle car heritage the modern cars are packed with enough
performance and handling features to blur the line of sports cars.
These awesome machines demand attention whether you are cruising
around town or whipping it around the track. This 2017 belongs to
the 6th generation and marks the 50th anniversary edition. It is
also the ZL1 version taking its name from the track ready and very
rare 1969 model. It was the top of the line version for the year
and this one has been extremely well cared for since new. It is
adult owned, never been raced, garage kept and never driven in the
rain. It has only been used as a show car and has a total of 10,652
original miles. You can tell this car has been babied since new and
is only being sold due to needing garage space. It is painted in
the very clean Summit White with Black ground effects and a carbon
fiber hood insert. These also featured wider fenders to accommodate
wider 20 inch forged aluminum wheels with 285-30ZR20 (front),
305-30ZR20 (rear) tires.
The car has a great looking aggressive exterior but it is
definitely not all looks. Performance was a major focus and this
collector edition is powered by a 6.2L LT4 supercharged motor that
produces 650 hp and 650 ft lbs of torque. In addition to the carbon
fiber hood insert the power train incorporated 11 total heat
exchangers for optimized cooling. The car is fully loaded with all
power options and Brembo brakes with 6 piston monoblock front
calipers and 15.35in two piece rotors. They are super fun to drive
and have great handling with a Magnetic Ride suspension system.
Fresh for this year was the 10-speed automatic 10L90 transmission
that was a joint venture that was developed in collaboration with
Ford. Top speed is 198 mph and its acceleration from 0 to 60 is
only 3.5 seconds.
The interior is Jet Black with Red stitching which was designed and
only offered in the ZL1 specifically. The Recaro seats are very
comfortable and both heated and cooled. These came with a suede
flat bottom steering wheel and a combination of digital and analog
gauges with HUD. Interiors are quick to show signs of wear and the
condition of this one is a testament to how well it has been taken
care of.
If you missed out of buying one originally this is your opportunity
to get one that is like new. Being a unique low production, low
mileage, special edition makes this car a collectable while also
being a blast to drive.
