This 1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 combines the unmistakable styling of
Jeep's long-wheelbase pickup with V8 power, an automatic
transmission, and a capable four-wheel-drive platform. Finished in
Arctic Silver, the exterior is accented by bold red, orange, and
dark gray Scrambler graphics, a contrasting black half-cab top,
black fender flares, chrome mirrors, and a polished front
bumper.
Under the hood is a 350ci small-block Chevrolet V8 equipped with a
Holley four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold,
open-element air cleaner, finned valve covers, and a clean,
straightforward engine-bay presentation. Power is sent through a
TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a manually controlled
four-wheel-drive transfer case. A dual exhaust system provides the
appropriate V8 sound.
The Scrambler rides with a lifted stance supported by its
traditional leaf-spring suspension and aftermarket shocks with red
protective boots. Chrome wheels are wrapped in aggressive
white-letter Firestone Destination M/T tires, giving the Jeep a
purposeful off-road appearance. Power-assisted brakes add
confidence during normal street use.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with black XRC by Smittybilt front
bucket seats, a Grant three-spoke steering wheel, automatic floor
shifter, separate transfer-case selector, and the recognizable
center-mounted Jeep speedometer. Auxiliary VDO and AutoMeter gauges
provide additional monitoring of the electrical and fuel
systems.
Behind the front seats is an integrated roll-bar structure and an
additional rear bench seat. The pickup bed is finished in a durable
black textured coating and carries a full-size rear-mounted spare
with an American-flag tire cover. Black side steps provide easier
entry into the lifted cabin.
The underside has been photographed and shows black-finished frame
and floor surfaces, a solid front and rear axle arrangement, dual
exhaust, and the complete four-wheel-drive driveline. Honest
age-related patina remains visible on portions of the suspension,
axle housings, and related hardware.
The odometer currently displays approximately 909 miles, though
total mileage is not represented as original due to the vehicle's
age. With its V8 conversion, automatic transmission, lifted stance,
recognizable graphics, and usable pickup-bed configuration, this
CJ-8 is a distinctive choice for cruising, local shows, and
recreational driving.
