GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this distinctive 1971 Pontiac
Grand Prix Hurst SSJ, a rare collaboration between Pontiac and
Hurst Performance. Finished in the signature Cameo White and gold
color combination, this example features gold accents across the
hood, roof, and rear deck, Hurst SSJ badging, gold Rally II wheels,
and a white landau-style roof treatment. The result is a striking
example of early 1970s American personal luxury styling.
Under the hood is a 400ci Pontiac V8 paired with an automatic
transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power brakes, air
conditioning, and dual exhaust. An upgraded aluminum radiator and
new starter have also been installed. The Grand Prix's long
wheelbase, comfortable suspension, and traditional Pontiac V8 make
it an excellent candidate for relaxed cruising.
The interior features factory-correct Ivory upholstery with bucket
seats, a center console, black dashboard, and woodgrain accents.
Additional equipment includes an AM/FM stereo, electric clock, and
hood-mounted tachometer. A unique period accessory is the
eight-track tape deck mounted in the rear seating area, although
its functionality has not been verified. Additional original
components and gauges are included in the trunk.
According to the previous owner, this Grand Prix underwent an
extensive refurbishment approximately three years ago, including
bodywork, paint, upholstery, and drivetrain work. A substantial
collection of receipts accompanies the vehicle, documenting the
work performed. The refreshed exterior and interior complement the
distinctive Hurst SSJ appearance.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of this Grand Prix is its
accompanying original Pontiac factory build sheet. This
documentation provides valuable insight into the vehicle's original
configuration, including its automatic transmission, Cameo White
exterior, Ivory interior, and factory options. Particularly
significant is the build sheet's reference to Hurst Performance
Research in Roseville, Michigan, supporting the vehicle's
connection to the Hurst SSJ program. The build sheet also
identifies Wallace Pontiac Company of Youngstown, Ohio, as the
original selling dealer. The vehicle is currently equipped with a
400ci Pontiac V8; its original engine configuration should be
verified against the factory documentation.
Combining distinctive Hurst styling, classic Pontiac V8 power,
extensive factory equipment, and documented refurbishment, this
1971 Grand Prix Hurst SSJ offers collectors and enthusiasts an
opportunity to own an uncommon piece of American automotive
history.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing,
and/or $240 documentation fees.
