This 1986 Chevrolet C10 is a seriously impressive Squarebody
restomod that combines classic Chevrolet truck styling with modern
LS power, a completely reworked chassis, and an aggressive street
truck stance. Finished in Smoke Show Gray with a clearcoat finish,
this C10 has been transformed into a beautifully executed custom
pickup with an estimated $100,000 invested in the build. With just
4,020 miles since completion, the truck features an extensive list
of performance and comfort upgrades while retaining the
unmistakable character of Chevrolet's iconic Squarebody design. Its
lowered stance, polished US Mag wheels, shaved exterior details,
and clean monochromatic finish give it a sinister appearance that
looks just as good sitting still as it does cruising down the
road.
Under the hood sits a new 6.2-liter Chevrolet LS3 V8 rated at 495
horsepower, delivering a substantial increase in performance over
the original powerplant. The engine is equipped with a cold-air
intake and backed by a 4L70E automatic transmission, sending power
to a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.23 gearing. A custom stainless
steel dual exhaust system exits beneath the rear of the truck,
providing an aggressive soundtrack to match its performance. The
engine compartment has been exceptionally well detailed, featuring
a clean, body-colored firewall, neatly routed components, and a
minimalist presentation that puts the LS3 front and center.
The chassis has been extensively upgraded to deliver handling and
driving characteristics far beyond those of a factory 1986 pickup.
A Detroit Speed four-link rear suspension provides improved rear
axle control, while the front end features a Detroit Speed
suspension system with rack-and-pinion steering. The frame has been
powder coated, and the truck sits low over its staggered US Mag
wheels, creating an aggressive profile without sacrificing the
timeless lines of the original body. The undercarriage is equally
impressive, displaying the quality of the build with clean
suspension components, a beautifully finished chassis, and the
custom stainless exhaust system.
Inside, the C10 features a completely customized TMI interior
finished in black and gray with contrasting stitching and metal
accent details. The sculpted bucket seats feature suede-style
inserts, while the matching custom center console incorporates dual
cupholders and a padded armrest. Coordinated door panels, custom
dashboard trim, and Dakota Digital gauges give the cabin a
modernized appearance while preserving its classic Squarebody
layout. A Restomod Air Haymaker climate control system provides
modern air conditioning, making this truck far more enjoyable for
everyday cruising. Additional upgrades include billet exterior door
handles and strikers, INTEK billet exterior mirrors, and a vent
window delete kit for a cleaner, more streamlined appearance.
The exterior is equally well executed, with the Smoke Show Gray
finish extending into the engine compartment and beautifully
refinished pickup bed. The smooth tailgate, clean body lines, dark
window tint, and polished wheels work together to give the truck a
cohesive custom appearance without going overboard. The bed retains
its functionality while presenting exceptionally well, and the
attention to detail continues throughout the truck.
This 1986 Chevrolet C10 represents everything that makes a
well-built Squarebody restomod so desirable. With nearly 500
horsepower from its LS3, a modern automatic transmission,
extensively upgraded Detroit Speed suspension, a custom TMI
interior, and an estimated six-figure investment, this is far more
than a lowered classic pickup. It is a thoughtfully executed,
high-performance street truck built to be driven, enjoyed, and
admired. For someone looking for a badass Squarebody with the
performance, comfort, and presence to back up its looks, this C10
checks all the boxes.
