When Porsche released the 959 supercar near the end of the G-Series 911's production run, it was clear the rulebook for sports cars was never going to be the same. All wheel drive, a twin-turbocharged flat-6 producing 450hp, and adjustable suspension, and an incredibly luxurious interior, the 959 could attain 200mph in a fairly safe and comfortable manner - and still be used as a daily driver. In comparison, the 911 appeared almost antiquated. Therefore, it was of no surprise when Porsche announced the 964-generation 911 in 1989 featuring numerous upgrades borrowed from the 959.
According to factory marketing, the 964 boasted all-new components across 85% of its design. A vastly updated chassis and suspension sharpened handling while improving ride quality. A new 3.6L version of the flat-6 offered 250hp, dramatically increasing performance. Safety was also of tantamount concern, with ABS, power steering, driver/passenger airbags, and a new, automatically deploying spoiler all coming as standard on the new car. Updated styling in and out and an optional automatic transmission were among the many changes. With the 911’s future now secured, Porsche only produced the 964 through 1994, whereupon it was succeeded by the 993. As such, 964s are among the rarer variants of the 911 and remain in high demand amongst enthusiasts and collectors.
The superb 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet featured here is finished in gorgeous Cobalt Blue Metallic over an impeccably kept Cashmere (Beige) supple leather interior with a Dark Blue power convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been meticulously maintained and is among one of the finest examples we've offered in some time, with only 28,434 carefully driven miles. Because of its incredible condition, stunning color combination, and low miles, this investment-grade 964-generation 911 will be a great addition to any premier collection. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own the very best at an investment price!
