This 1983 GMC Caballero was refurbished in 2009. Work included
installing a 350ci Tuned Port Injection V8 and a 700R4 four-speed
automatic transmission as well as repainting the exterior and
refreshing the interior. Equipment includes a revised grille, front
spoiler, and side mirrors as well as aftermarket wheels, air
conditioning, a Grant GT steering wheel, Dakota Digital gauges, and
a CD stereo. The Caballero shared a platform with the Chevrolet El
Camino, and a total of 2,126 Caballeros were produced for the 1983
model year. This example has been repainted gray and is equipped
with a revised grille, front spoiler, and side mirrors as well as
quad headlights and a curved rear window. The 15? aftermarket
wheels are mounted with Cooper tires. The truck rides on a front
and rear coil-spring suspension, and stopping is accomplished via
power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The 350ci V8 crate
motor was installed in 2009 and features Tuned Port Injection, an
HEI ignition system, a custom air intake, and an aluminum radiator
with dual electric fans. A 23-gallon fuel tank and a dual exhaust
system are also fitted. Power is routed to the limited-slip rear
differential through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission that
was installed in 2009.
