Classic Car Addict is proud to present this custom 1947 Chevrolet
Fleetline Aerosedan for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. Known
for its distinctive fastback roofline, sweeping body contours, and
postwar styling, the Fleetline Aerosedan remains a favorite among
classic car enthusiasts and street rod builders. This example
combines its iconic 1940s appearance with a JASPER 355ci V8, TH350
automatic transmission, Mustang II-style independent front
suspension, power steering, upgraded brakes, and a custom interior
with modern comforts.
Exterior:
The Fleetline retains its recognizable two-door fastback body style
with a gracefully sloping roofline and flowing fenders. The body
has undergone custom paint and bodywork, with owner documentation
referencing PPG paint products and work performed by Rick's Body
Shop in Ellettsville, Indiana. Additional custom touches include a
modified fuel filler using a gas door sourced from a 1990 Ford
Probe and a 15-gallon polyethylene fuel tank. The combination of
classic Chevrolet styling and street rod modifications gives this
Aerosedan a distinctive presence.
Interior:
Inside, the cabin features custom upholstery completed by Gibbs
Auto Interior, incorporating seating sourced from a 1991 Nissan
Sentra. A billet dashboard insert houses VDO instrumentation, while
a billet steering wheel and column-mounted automatic shifter add to
the custom street rod appearance. Comfort and convenience features
include air conditioning, a CD player, and an updated electrical
system utilizing an EZ Wiring 21-circuit wiring kit. The interior
blends traditional Chevrolet character with modernized equipment
for a more comfortable driving experience.
Engine:
Power comes from a JASPER 355ci Chevrolet V8 equipped with an
Edelbrock 600 CFM four-barrel carburetor with electric choke, an
open-element air cleaner, and polished Chevrolet-branded valve
covers. Additional equipment includes Taylor spark plug wires, HEI
ignition, a chrome 90-amp alternator, upgraded accessory pulleys,
and a finned aluminum oil pan. Cooling is handled by mechanical and
electric fans with a shroud. Coated tubular headers feed a custom
dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, giving the
small-block V8 its classic performance sound.
Transmission:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM TH350 three-speed
automatic transmission, operated by a column-mounted shifter.
Drivetrain:
The Fleetline retains a traditional rear-wheel-drive configuration
with a solid rear axle. The rear suspension has been upgraded with
a Chassis Engineering leaf spring kit and aftermarket chrome PRO
shock absorbers.
Wheels and Tires:
The Chevrolet rides on 17x8-inch Eagle alloy wheels wrapped in
225/55R17 radial tires, providing a custom street rod appearance
while complementing the Fleetline's sweeping body lines.
Suspension:
Up front, the Fleetline features a Mustang II-style independent
front suspension with a Fat Man crossmember, control arms, coil
springs, Chassis Engineering sway bar, and chrome PRO shock
absorbers. The rear utilizes a solid axle with upgraded Chassis
Engineering leaf springs and matching aftermarket shocks.
Brakes:
The braking system has been upgraded with power-assisted front disc
brakes, larger rotors and calipers, and updated brake plumbing.
Owner documentation also references a Corvette-sourced master
cylinder and a remotely mounted power brake booster assembly.
Steering:
A power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system replaces the
original steering arrangement, providing a more modern setup for
cruising and maneuverability.
Undercarriage:
The underside retains its traditional body-on-frame construction
while showcasing the upgraded suspension, braking, and drivetrain
components. The custom dual exhaust features coated headers and
Flowmaster mufflers, while the chassis incorporates upgraded brake
plumbing and a custom fuel system. Protective undercoating has been
applied, and various suspension and exhaust components show signs
of normal age and use.
Vehicle History & Documentation:
Owner-provided build documentation details several of the vehicle's
modifications, including custom paint and bodywork by Rick's Body
Shop, interior work by Gibbs Auto Interior, suspension upgrades,
and various mechanical components.
