1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL Hardtop | Z-Code 390 | Black on Black |
Recently Restored | Financing Available |
This is a recently restored, black on black 1964 Galaxie 500XL
hardtop with the factory Z-code 390 and an automatic. It's a
lifelong Georgia car showing 68,647 miles, believed original.
The black paint is smooth as glass, and the chrome is in incredible
shape. No rust, no rot, no bubbles anywhere on the car. The
underside is solid and clean, and the trunk is in excellent shape.
Inside, the black vinyl bucket seats are in incredible shape, and
so are the console and the rest of the interior. All the gauges,
dash lights, interior lights, turn signals, and heat work. It has
an AM radio and manual crank windows.
It runs and drives great. The 390 four-barrel has a brand new
Holley carburetor with warranty and is backed by the Cruise-O-Matic
automatic. The car has power steering and power brakes. The engine
bay is clean, with gold Thunderbird valve covers and air cleaner.
It sits on American Racing Torq Thrust style wheels with new
P225/70R15 tires (2026 date code). Factory bumper guards and Ford
crest mirrors are on the car.
It's nice enough to win car shows and easy enough to cruise every
weekend.
Some history: this car was built at Ford's Atlanta plant on June
18, 1964 and ordered through the Atlanta sales district. It has
spent its whole life in Georgia, with the same owner from 1986
until this year. The 500XL was the top of Ford's full-size line in
1964, with bucket seats and a console standard, and Ford built
58,306 XL hardtops that year.
