1932 Ford Cabriolet Hot Rod - Built by Boyd Coddington for
Christian Audigier, One of Boyd's Final Builds
Some hot rods are built. This one is history.
Classic Cars of Sarasota is proud to present this 1932 Ford
Cabriolet, a Boyd Coddington creation built for fashion icon
Christian Audigier and one of the last cars to leave Boyd's
legendary shop. Black and sinister, with a red interior,
billet-quality Boyd details, and old-school pinstripes, this is a
rolling piece of hot rod history.
Built to Be an Icon
In mid-2007, Christian Audigier approached Boyd Coddington with a
bold request: build a "Signature Hot Rod" to serve as the icon for
his new VIF Speed Shop brand. Boyd delivered, combining traditional
Deuce styling with the craftsmanship that made the Coddington name
famous.
A Piece of Hot Rod History
Boyd fell ill just before the car was finished and passed away in
February 2008. The shop and the Audigier car sat idle until Boyd's
widow, Jo, had the car sent to West Coast Customs. There, the
interior was installed, the pinstriping and paint were completed,
and the original Boyd wheels were mounted. The finished car was
then exhibited in the West Coast Customs booth at the 2008 SEMA
Show.
Few hot rods can claim a story like this: a legendary builder, a
famous commissioner, a famous finishing shop, and a SEMA debut.
Real Henry Ford Steel. Boyd Craftsmanship. Built to Drive.
This Cabriolet keeps its all-steel Henry Ford body, the foundation
traditional hot-rodders prize most. Under the hood, a Ford 302 V8
with Victory Jr heads delivers strong power, and dual exhaust gives
it a deep hot-rod rumble.

Boyd Coddington is one of the most celebrated names in hot rod
history, known for pushing the craft to a new level of fit, finish,
and design. Cars from his shop are sought after by collectors, and
a build from his final chapter, tied to a famous brand and a SEMA
appearance, is a rare find.
More than a '32 Ford, this is a symbol of American ingenuity,
individuality, and the freedom of the open road. Whether you're
cruising on a Sunday morning, rolling into a car show, or letting
the story speak for itself in your collection, this Roadster
delivers a feeling no modern car can match.
