Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1969 Buick Special Deluxe Coupe.
The car has been very well preserved is highly original and hails
from California. This classic cruiser features its beautiful
factory-correct Champagne Mist paint (Code 63) over a crisp black
vinyl bench interior. The Buick Special has a storied history as
one of Buick's most enduring nameplates, first introduced in 1936.
By 1969, the Special Deluxe sat as an upscale entry-level
intermediate built on GM's celebrated A-body platform-sharing its
legendary architecture with the Chevy Chevelle, Pontiac LeMans, and
Oldsmobile Cutlass. The 1969 model year featured Buick's famous
"Sweepspear" body line contours and advanced safety engineering.
The Special Deluxe offered buyers a perfect blend of GM muscle-car
proportions with the premium comfort, smoother ride, and prestige
associated with the Buick brand. Today, surviving Special Deluxe
Coupes are sought after for their distinct styling, robust
mechanicals, and rarity compared to their corporate
stablemates. This California native boasts excellent structural
integrity. The car received one repaint in its original Champagne
Mist color, which is believed to be over 20 years old. It still
shows incredibly well today, though it does have some minor
imperfections and some typical bubbling along the roofline
(detailed in the photo gallery). All body panels line up
beautifully, and all factory chrome trim and Buick badging are
intact and in very good to excellent condition. The trunk
compartment is rock-solid, clean, and complete with a full spare
tire and original jack equipment.Inside, the black vinyl bench
interior is in wonderful condition. The front bench seat has been
professionally reupholstered, while the original rear seat remains
in excellent shape. The car has very good quality black carpeting
protected by classic Buick-logo rubber floor mats. A couple things
requiring attention include: The factory radio is currently
missing; the dash opening is temporarily and neatly filled with a
vintage Buick tissue box. Headliner: The headliner is sagging/worn
and will need to be replaced by the next owner. Note on Air
Conditioning: This is an original, factory AC-equipped car.
However, the compressor has been removed, and the system currently
requires attention and repair to be fully functional.Much of the
mechanical heavy lifting on this Buick has already been completed.
Under the hood sits the original 350 cubic-inch V8 engine with a
2-barrel carburetor, paired with a 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic
automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission were
completely rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago. The car itself shows
150K original Miles. The car is equipped with factory Power
Steering for effortless cruising. The drum brake system features
all-new wheel cylinders, brake lines, and hoses. The fuel system
has been upgraded with a brand-new gas tank, sending unit, and fuel
lines. The very clean undercarriage features a great-sounding
stainless steel dual exhaust system. The car rides smoothly on
newer Toyo Touring white wall Radial tires (Size: 205/75R14)
mounted on iconic factory Buick Rally Wheels. Overall, this is an
very clean, solid, and great-driving '69 Buick Special Deluxe.
Thanks to the fresh engine and transmission rebuild, it is
mechanically reliable and ready to be driven home. With just a
little bit of cosmetic finishing inside, a rear window trim piece
and some AC work, this California A-body can easily be brought to
the next level. Currently stored in Massachusetts, it comes with a
clean MA title in the owner's name, original owner's manual and a
selection of extra parts. It is a fantastic, turn-key driver that
is ready to enjoy at local car shows and for weekend cruises. Call
Jeff to arrange a viewing. Thanks for Looking.
