This 1963 Land Rover Series IIA 109 Long Wheelbase Pickup has
undergone a comprehensive restoration, combining classic British
utility styling with carefully selected mechanical upgrades. The
truck retains its original bulkhead, seat box, doors, windshield
frame, and galvanized cappings. Finished in this gorgeous Tartan
Blue, the body is complemented by Limestone powder-coated wheels, a
new Exmoor canvas top, a Pangolin 44 galvanized front bumper, Warn
8274 winch, and an oiled cypress wood bed. The restoration also
included a Richards galvanized chassis and refinished galvanized
components throughout.
Power comes from a Land Rover Defender 200TDi turbo diesel, sourced
from a 64,000-mile vehicle and refreshed with a new timing belt,
water pump, rear main seal, Garret Turbo, and clutch prior to
installation. A rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission with a
high-ratio transfer case delivers power through heavy-duty
24-spline Salisbury axles. Additional upgrades include Toyota FJ60
power steering, Rovers North parabolic leaf springs, Old Man Emu
shocks, a Borgeson collapsible steering column, and five Michelin
ZXL tires.
Inside, custom Exmoor seating, a Tuffy locking center console,
Kodiak heater, and a unique Russian Tupolev bomber clock complement
the purposeful cabin. A replacement wiring harness with
factory-style cloth wrapping preserves the vintage presentation.
This Series IIA 109 offers an excellent combination of traditional
Land Rover character, thoughtful craftsmanship, and improved
drivability.
