Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe.
Frame-Off Restoration with Original Blue Flame Six & Powerglide
transmission. This is an exceptional, Award-Winning Example of
Chevrolet's Iconic 1955 Bel Air with Beautiful Original-Style
Colors, Outstanding Restoration Quality and Documented History. Few
cars capture the styling of mid-1950s America quite like the 1955
Chevrolet Bel Air. With its distinctive Ferrari-inspired front-end
styling, elegant stainless-steel side trim, sweeping body lines,
and iconic tailfins, the 1955 model introduced an entirely new look
for Chevrolet and helped establish the Bel Air as one of the most
recognizable American automobiles of the decade. Offered here is an
outstanding 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe that combines the
timeless appeal of Chevrolet's landmark design with a meticulous
frame-off restoration, exceptional presentation, and a documented
history of careful ownership. Originally a Texas car, this example
was purchased by its current Chevrolet enthusiast owner in 1995.
Over the following eight years, the car underwent a comprehensive,
painstaking frame-off restoration in which it was completely
disassembled, with components restored, rebuilt, or replaced with
new OEM parts as appropriate. The result is this beautifully
presented Bel Air that has traveled fewer than 34,000 miles since
its restoration and has earned numerous first-place awards in its
class for restoration quality and originality. In addition, this
car was featured on the cover of Chevy Classics magazine in August
2010 as shown. Finished in the gorgeous factory color combination
of Glacier Blue and Shoreline Beige, this Bel Air showcases the
styling that made the 1955 Chevrolet such an enduring classic. The
paintwork was completed using DuPont products for preparation,
primer, and finish, and remains in excellent condition, with only a
few minor imperfections as shown in the photographs. The body is in
excellent condition, with attractive panel alignment, proper gaps,
and excellent fit throughout. The original-style stainless-steel
exterior trim has been meticulously restored and hand-polished to a
beautiful finish. Chrome bumpers, bumperettes, and chrome
door-handle shields are in like-new condition, complementing the
paintwork beautifully. The overall presentation is clean, correct,
and exceptionally attractive, making this Bel Air equally appealing
to the serious Chevrolet enthusiast and the collector who
appreciates high-quality restoration work. Under the hood and
situated in a very clean engine compartment is the original and
rebuilt 235 cubic-inch Chevrolet Blue Flame inline-six, rated at
136 horsepower when new, paired with Chevrolet's Powerglide
automatic transmission. The Blue Flame six was an important part of
Chevrolet's postwar engineering heritage. Smooth, durable, and well
suited to relaxed cruising, the 235-cubic-inch engine provided
dependable performance and reflected Chevrolet's emphasis on
practical, comfortable motoring. While the available small-block V8
would soon become synonymous with the classic Chevrolet performance
era, the Blue Flame six remains an appealing choice for enthusiasts
who appreciate originality and the traditional driving character of
a mid-1950s Chevrolet. Additional mechanical details include a
date-coded radiator and a new fuel tank and sending unit. The car
is not equipped with power steering or power brakes, retaining
conventional four-wheel drum brakes in keeping with its original
configuration. The interior continues the attractive Glacier Blue
and Shoreline Beige theme. Reproduction straw-colored seat covers
and matching door panels are in excellent condition, with no rips
or tears. Daytona carpeting and matching floor mats complete the
presentation. The beautifully painted dashboard features restored
stainless-steel trim, creating the bright, period-correct
appearance that is such an important part of the Bel Air's appeal.
Additional equipment includes: AM Wonder Bar radio with seek
function, Quartz clock that works, Functional ashtray and cigarette
lighter, restored dashboard and stainless-steel trim and
Date-coded, tinted glass throughout. Everything in the car is
reported to work as it should, reflecting the care invested in both
the restoration and subsequent ownership. The trunk compartment is
clean and solid, featuring a trunk mat, the original spare tire
mounted on a factory steel wheel, and the original jack equipment.
Beneath the car, the undercarriage is exceptionally clean and
solid, finished in red oxide to complement the restoration's
attention to detail. The car also features a stainless-steel
exhaust system with a single exit, providing a durable and tidy
finishing touch. The overall underside presentation reinforces the
quality of the original Texas foundation and the comprehensive
frame-off restoration. The Bel Air rides on American Racing Torque
Thrust wheels fitted with Cooper Endeavor tires measuring
215/70R15, with fewer than 2,000 miles on the tires. The
combination gives the car a handsome stance while complementing its
classic 1950s body lines. The combination of long-term enthusiast
ownership, award recognition, and magazine exposure makes this Bel
Air an especially appealing addition to a serious Chevrolet
collection. This example offers a particularly attractive
combination of qualities: an original Texas car, long-term
ownership since 1995, a meticulous eight-year frame-off
restoration, the original 235-cubic-inch Blue Flame six-cylinder
engine and Powerglide automatic transmission, an outstanding
factory-inspired color combination, numerous first-place awards,
and a feature on the cover of Chevy Classics magazine. With fewer
than 34,000 miles traveled since restoration, excellent
presentation throughout, this Bel Air is ready to be enjoyed and
appreciated by its next caretaker. The car is currently stored in
Massachusetts and comes with a clean title in the owner's name.
