The 1989 Mercury Tiffany (commonly known as the Tiffany Classic) is
a luxury "neoclassical" coupe designed to mimic the sweeping,
extravagant aesthetics of 1930s luxury automobiles. Rather than
being built from scratch, the car was constructed by Classic Motor
Carriages (CMC) in Opa-Locka, Florida using a brand-new 1989
Mercury Cougar as the donor chassis and drivetrain. 1989 marked the
final production year for this rare model, with only an estimated
1,500 total examples built during its 1984--1989 production run.Key
Specifications & Features- Exterior Styling: The car is roughly
18.5 feet (6 meters) long, featuring massive stretched fiberglass
front fenders, dual side-mounted spare tires, a custom front grille
with quad driving lights, wire wheels with whitewall tires, and a
rear luggage trunk bound with leather straps.- Powertrain: It is
powered by Ford's reliable, naturally aspirated 5.0-liter (302 CID)
Windsor V8 paired with an automatic transmission with overdrive,
channeling power directly to the rear wheels.- Modern Amenities:
While the outside looks like a pre-war classic, the interior
features standard late-1980s Mercury luxury. It came equipped with
leather seats, a digital instrument cluster, electronic climate
control, cruise control, a power sunroof, and a signature musical
horn.- Collectability: Because it retains standard Ford mechanical
parts, it is relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain compared
to true vintage vehicles.
