This 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Edition
represents a special piece of Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor
Speedway history. Built to commemorate the Camaro's selection as
the official pace car for the 77th running of the Indianapolis 500,
this limited-production model was introduced during the launch year
of the fourth-generation Camaro. Just 645 Pace Car Edition replicas
were produced, making these cars a particularly collectible
variation of the 1993 Z28. With only 14,686 miles showing, this
example offers an opportunity to own a low-mileage piece of
American motorsports history.
The Pace Car Edition features a distinctive two-tone Black and
Arctic White exterior, separated by a colorful ribbon-style graphic
package inspired by the official Indianapolis 500 pace car. Special
Indianapolis 500 Pace Car graphics adorn the doors, while the Z28
badging, rear spoiler, and factory alloy wheels complete the
appearance. The interior is equally distinctive, featuring special
black-and-white cloth upholstery with multicolored accents that
complement the exterior graphics. This unique interior treatment
was exclusive to the Pace Car Edition and remains one of the most
recognizable features of these cars.
Power comes from Chevrolet's 5.7-liter LT1 V8, factory rated at 275
horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This example is equipped with
the four-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear
wheels. The LT1 engine was a major advancement for the Camaro in
1993, bringing improved performance and technology to Chevrolet's
popular F-body platform. Combined with the Z28's
performance-oriented suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and
aerodynamic fourth-generation body, the result was one of the most
capable Camaros of its era.
With just 14,686 miles, this Camaro has seen limited use throughout
its life. Its CARFAX report documents a history of maintenance and
servicing, including oil changes, cooling system work, brake
service, and other mechanical attention. The report also shows no
reported accidents or damage. Between its limited production,
unmistakable factory appearance, low mileage, and connection to one
of the most celebrated events in American racing, this 1993 Camaro
Z28 Pace Car Edition is an appealing addition to any Chevrolet or
Indianapolis 500 collection.
