"When you're America's top selling compact, there has to be a
reason. Maybe it's Dart's stylish shape. A look that just doesn't
say 'compact.' Or could it be the extra room and comfort that Dart
offers inside? Perhaps it's the way Dart handles. It's nimble.
Sure. Confident. Reason enough to catch Dodge Fever. This is the
top of the Dart line for 1969. Definitely a performance oriented
car that offers the 383 Magnum engine, available as an option only
on GTS and on no other Dart model." Excerpted from the 1969
brochure.
For consignment, a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 2 door hardtop tribute
showing 79,994 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The no
expense spared restoration of this vehicle began in 2020 and a
comprehensive list of work and parts accompanies this fantastic
build.
Exterior
The combination of Cream and red tail stripes is striking here, a
fantastic spec that is both vintage appearing and amazingly fresh.
It's artful in how it brings out the subtle red circle on the
hubcaps, themselves a standout on the black painted 15-inch steel
wheels. Red also pops from the simulated hood vents on sculpted
rises, a feature only seen on the GTS and Swinger 340 models. While
straight edges dominate the Dart, the curved and pointed rear
window is something Dodge is particularly good at, and it's a nice
detail here. A black decklid panel is also reserved for the
performance models and gives the otherwise pedestrian tail lights
an aggressive platform. The paint, body and metalwork are very nice
here. What imperfections we could find include some clear runs and
rough patches under both tail lights.
Interior
Saddle vinyl door cards are sandwiched by brown painted panels and
both present immaculately. Mottled saddle vinyl is used for the
seats, beginning with the front buckets with ornamentation in the
design crease, following suit in back where the bench also is in
excellent condition. The 3 spoke steering wheel with horn ring
shares the column with a vintage style tachometer ahead of the
horizontal display of gauges and sweeping speedometer. Accented in
black, the mid panel holds the vent levers, an AM radio and an
added twin gauge pack suspended from the dash, and it's all in show
worthy condition. Woodgrain applique framed in polished stainless
creates the clean center console where you'll find the Hurst
shifter, while brown twist carpet covers the floor and a clean
headliner dresses the ceiling. The clean parade continues to the
trunk where a period type plaid vinyl mat covers the painted, rust
free floor and is home to the battery.
Drivetrain
Here we have a spotless 400ci V8 built by HP Motors, with a Holley
4-barrel carburetor and a Silver Sport Tremec TKX 5-speed manual
that cost almost as much as the donor car itself! An 8 3/4" 3.73
SureGrip axle is in charge of putting the power to the pavement.
TTI polished headers are tucked neatly on the sides and chrome
valve covers offer a dynamic contrast to the orange block.
Undercarriage
Yep, exactly what we expected; a basically pristine underside with
almost no signs of usage and all backed by the same paint that
coats the tops side. Dual exhaust runs through Scat Pack Challenger
mufflers on its way to a polished crescendo. Wilwood front disc
brakes are on board along with rear drums and suspension includes
QA1 front control arms along with 1.03 torsion bars, leaf springs
in the back, and Dynamic adjustable shock absorbers.
Drive-Ability
It runs as well as it looks and sounds pretty darn good doing it!
We have no complaints on our test loop where the car proves to have
great power, straight tracking, and good visibility with narrow
A-pillars clearing the way. We note the reverse lights not working
but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
What started off as a well optioned 6 cylinder Dart now makes its
market debut as an absolutely stunning, near perfect show car.
Everything is basically new on this car from sources that include
Summit, Classic Industries, Jegs, Mancini Racing, Detroit
MuscleTechnologies, Year One, Phoenix Graphics, and many more. Are
