"The 1987 model year, the final year of production, saw the series
designators changed. The rear wheel drive C-series became the
R-series, then the four wheel drive K-series were renamed the
V-series. This was done to allow for concurrent production of its
replacement early in 1987 of the all new C and K models. 1988 then
saw the introduction of the fourth generation C/K, which would
itself continue until 2002." Hagerty.com
For consignment, a 1987 Chevrolet K10 short bed 4x4 pickup with a
title verified 82,857 actual miles. Despite the V VIN code
designating 4x4, they are still referred to as K10s. This one has a
six inch lift but otherwise presents in mostly original
condition.

Exterior
Glistening Bright Red coats this truck like an offroad fire engine
and this final year square body is kept angular with its boxy
eggcrate grille, here fronted by a pair of rally lights between the
bumper guards. The straight shoulder line is handsome in profile
and the body leaves plenty of mud slinging space between the tires
and wheel openings and that means there's also room for the
suspension to travel when you jump the creek bed! The bumper out
back is matched by chrome bed rails while an aluminum dress plate
spans the tailgate between simple tail lights that are now classic.
Other accessories include twin exhaust tips and step up under each
door. In the back of the cab, a sliding window overlooks the rough
lined bed that presents cleanly. 15-inch M/T wheels carry 37" LT
rated tires. One small scuff is the only imperfection we could find
on this big red stunner.
Interior
Black vinyl over formed plastic makes for attractive door panels
with electric switches and a similar dress plate to the one on the
tailgate. The black velour-like bench seat is in fantastic
condition and fronts a clean and original configured steering wheel
and dashboard where black faced gauges are rendered elegant by the
simple addition by GM of chrome rings. Canted towards the driver on
the right is the heater panel and updated Sony AM/FM/CD radio with
AUX and USB. A cupholder brings the truck into the 21st century,
suspended over the floor mounted range selector and clean, black
carpet. The headliner is also black and in good condition.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a decidedly less showy 350ci V8, with throttle
body injection and a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission that
routes power to 10 bolt axle front and rear, both with 3.42 gears
and the rear featuring Positraction. Power brakes, power steering,
and the air conditioning boxes all get checked!
Undercarriage
A heavy duty B&M rear differential cover catches our eyes as we
make our way under this clean belly of the beast, noting some
surfacerust, especially on the exhaust and driveshaft. But clean
and dry conditions prevail as that dual exhaust runs in tandem to
FlowMaster mufflers on its way to a polished end. There are no
catalytic converters on board. The suspension the 6 inch lift
includes leaf springs front and rear and brakes are divided as
power disc fronts and power drum rears.
Drive-Ability
We climb this big red mountain and set ourselves in the comfortable
interior that is like stepping back in time, save for the addition
of a modern radio and cupholders! The 350 comes to life without
hesitation and we roll the knobbies onto the test loop where it
provides good power and straight tracking. Now, we do note some
belt squeal under the hood and the high beams and driver's power
lock are not working but all other functions work as they should.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
If Clifford was a truck, he'd be this one. It stands high, is
colored by a fine coat of two stage red paint, and makes a pretty
good growl when you give it some throttle. This big dog can likely
traverse any terrain, trample through snow, and grip the side of a
hill with pitbull-like tenacity. But it'll do just fine at car
shows just the same!
