"Ford Motor Company introduced its Deluxe Ford line in 1938 as an
upscale alternative to bridge the gap between its base model and
luxury Lincoln cars. The Deluxe name was first used starting in
1930 to specify an upscale trim, then later the Deluxe Ford line
was differentiated as a separate "marque within a marque" with
separate styling and pricing. -martinautomuseum.org
This 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible is featured in black
exterior paint with a red and tan upholstery, black fabric top, and
wide whitewall tires. It's powered by the legendary 239 cubic inch
V8 motor paired with a 3-speed column-shift manual
transmission.
This Super Deluxe received an older restoration and remains in
exceptionally good overall condition. Its black finish is
highlighted by brilliant chrome trim. Inside, the Art Deco-inspired
wood grained and painted dashboard complements the two-tone
upholstery and carpet, which is protected by rubber mats.
Additional features include a power convertible top and heater.
Under the hood, a factory-appearing 239-cubic-inch V8 with a single
barrel carburetor runs smoothly and shifts easily through the
gears. Some light clutch chatter is noticeable at low speeds in
first gear.
This 1948 Ford Super Deluxe rides on painted steel wheels with
chrome center caps and wide whitewall tires.
