Everyone wants to be a champion - and this Shelby Cobra Daytona
Coupe (CSX9169) can make you feel like one!
Because the Shelby Cobra roadster lacked the aerodynamics needed to
win on fast European tracks, Carroll Shelby tasked a young Peter
Brock to create a slick coupe body for the car. The Shelby Cobra
Daytona promptly began winning races worldwide. Only six were
built, but that was enough to allow Shelby American to capture the
FIA World Manufacturer's Championship for Grand Touring race cars
in 1965, the first and only American manufacturer to do so.
The CSX9000 series is a modern update of the car that ruled the
track in the mid-1960s, and it makes every bit the impact today as
it did then. Original designer Peter Brock oversaw the design, and
Bob Negstad, a member of the original GT40 chassis design team,
assisted with the chassis and suspension development. The Daytona
features a tough composite body with show quality paint, front and
rear crumple zones incorporated in frame, coilover independent
suspension front and rear, and an aluminum limited slip
differential. The six originals were dedicated track warriors, but
the CSX9000 series is ready for both track and street duty, with
comforts such as air conditioning, power windows, power steering,
and a central locking system.
CSX9169 is finished in gorgeous Viking Blue with a Wimbledon White
painted half-cove. Daytona detailing includes Shelby signature door
handles, a period correct Le Mans style fuel filler cap, and Shelby
engraved sill plates. The interior is a welcoming environment for
grand touring excursions, with black leather seats, dash face, and
transmission tunnel, and Alcantara headliner and dash top. The
cockpit is highlighted by a leather steering wheel and
period-correct Stewart-Warner gauges.
The Roush 427SR V8 underhood churns out 531 horsepower and TKX
5-speed manual transmission will allow any driver to recall the
days of 1960s racing glory.
Daytona Coupes are built as Shelby models, delivered with a Shelby
Certificate of Origin, official Shelby CSX9000 serial number, and
eligibility for inclusion in the Shelby Registry. CSX9169 has 2,003
miles and is available for $269,950.
