1990 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL
Celebrity Cars is pleased to offer this 1990 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL
finished in red over tan showing just over 44k miles. It runs and
drives great.
The R129 SL is widely considered one of the best Mercedes-Benz
roadsters ever built. It was engineered during the company's
overbuilt era, when cost was secondary to quality, and it pairs
timeless Bruno Sacco styling with a refined, analog driving
experience. Collector interest in these cars continues to grow, and
early, low-mileage 500 SLs with documented history are increasingly
hard to find.
This example spent most of its life in Bakersfield, California,
where it was regularly serviced at Sangera Automotive Group from
2000 through 2014. It then came to Las Vegas in 2016, where it was
maintained by Fletcher Jones Imports.
Highlights include:
- 5.0L M119 32-valve V8 producing approximately 322 horsepower,
known for its smooth power delivery and long-term durability
- Rear-wheel drive with a four-speed automatic transmission,
delivering classic grand-touring performance
- Fully power-operated soft top plus the factory removable
hardtop, making it a true year-round luxury roadster
- Automatic pop-up rollover bar, an industry-first safety feature
for the R129
- Low mileage, well below average for its age
The CARFAX documents 15 service records, including:
- A 30,000-mile service with a new water pump and thermostat,
plus coolant and brake fluid flushes
- Engine mounts replaced, alignment, power steering service and a
new hood insulator
- Fuel line replaced and fuel and exhaust systems inspected
- Transmission service, cooling system service and multiple
coolant and brake fluid flushes
- Routine oil and filter changes throughout, plus battery
replacement at Fletcher Jones
It has a Clean Carfax that shows no accidents, no damage, no
structural damage and no airbag deployment reported. It is a
non-smoking vehicle and has always been garaged.
