This 2016 Ford Mustang GT represents one of the more distinctive
specialty Mustangs of the S550 generation. Built by Petty's Garage,
the performance operation founded by NASCAR legend Richard Petty,
this Mustang was transformed into a serialized King Edition, with
this particular car identified as #008 of just 243 examples.
Under the hood is Ford's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 fitted with a
documented Roush Phase 2 supercharger package, bringing output to
approximately 727 horsepower. Power is sent through a 6-speed
manual transmission, making this a properly engaging
high-performance Mustang rather than simply a straight-line
horsepower build. The Petty's Garage identification plates remain
in place, including the serialized King Edition plaque and build
information showing serial number 16PG197 and a March 2016 build
date.
The chassis received significant attention as part of the Petty
conversion. Photos show Petty's Garage/Ford Racing suspension
components, upgraded coil springs, performance dampers, sway bars
and additional chassis hardware. Large Brembo front brakes provide
the stopping power expected from a Mustang of this performance
level.
The stance is finished with a set of HRE FlowForm wheels wrapped in
performance tires. The dark-finish wheels complement the metallic
gray exterior especially well, while the large Petty rear wing,
Petty's Garage windshield graphics and subtle King Edition details
distinguish the car without overwhelming the original Mustang
design.
Inside, the cabin maintains the refinement of the modern Mustang
while incorporating Petty-specific details. Black leather seating,
touchscreen infotainment, auxiliary performance gauges and the
distinctive blue Petty's Garage shift knob give the interior a
purpose-built feel. A custom trunk-mounted subwoofer installation
adds another level of usability without disrupting the otherwise
clean presentation.
The underside reflects the relatively low mileage, with the factory
structure, independent rear suspension, exhaust system and
Petty/Ford Racing suspension upgrades clearly visible. The photos
also show the car's performance braking components and upgraded
chassis hardware.
Documentation is another strong point. Included with the car are
the Ford owner's materials, Mustang literature, warranty
information, Roush performance documentation and the Roush Phase 2
supercharger voucher/information, further supporting the specialty
nature of this build.
With only 7,651 miles, a 727-horsepower supercharged Coyote V8, a
6-speed manual transmission and documented status as Petty's Garage
King Edition #008 of 243, this Mustang offers considerably more
exclusivity than a conventional modified GT. It combines
limited-production provenance, serious performance and recognizable
Petty's Garage pedigree in a package that can still be comfortably
driven and enjoyed.
