This 1934 Ford 3-Window Hi-Boy Hot Rod is the kind of car that was
built for exactly what a hot rod should be used for - driving,
enjoying, and showing off.
It began life as a genuine 1934 Ford, and its previous longtime
owner built the car with the intention of actually using it. Over
the years he drove it to numerous car shows and events, creating a
proven hot rod rather than something that simply sat in a
garage.
During the build, the original steel body was determined to be too
far gone to provide the kind of solid, dependable car he wanted, so
a quality fiberglass 3-window coupe body was installed.
Importantly, the car still retains several original 1934 Ford
components, including its original frame, hood and grille, along
with a modified original-style windshield.
Power comes from a Ford 351 Windsor crate V8 topped with a 4-barrel
carburetor. It is backed by a strong C6 automatic transmission and
Ford rear end. A custom set of headers feeds into a great-sounding
3-inch dual exhaust system, giving the car the sound and attitude a
traditional Hi-Boy deserves.
Stopping is handled by front disc brakes with rear drums, making
this a straightforward and enjoyable hot rod to drive.
Inside, the car features a very attractive brown leather interior
that has been nicely finished with a number of thoughtful custom
styling touches. The cabin complements the traditional exterior
perfectly and gives the car a finished, quality feel without losing
its old-school hot rod personality.
One of the most distinctive features is the set of
Bonneville-inspired door numbers added by the previous owner. They
were designed to give the car the appearance of a vintage
Bonneville racer from days gone by, and they fit the overall
personality of the car exceptionally well.
This is not an overdone trailer queen. It is a really nicely
executed, proven hot rod that has already spent years doing exactly
what it was built to do. It runs and drives great, has a fantastic
traditional look, and is ready for its next owner to enjoy on
weekend drives, cruise nights and car shows for many years to
come.
If you are looking for a classic 1934 Ford Hi-Boy with real Ford
heritage, traditional hot rod styling and a drivetrain built to be
enjoyed, this is a great one to own.
