Some cars are built to look badass sitting in a parking lot. Others
are built to raise hell when you bury your right foot.
THIS BASTARD WAS BUILT TO DO BOTH!
Let's start with what's hiding under the hood of this 1971
Chevrolet Chevelle, because this isn't some tired old small-block
with a shiny air cleaner trying to look important. We're talking
about a NEW BluePrint Engines 400 cubic-inch V8 pumping out a rated
500 HORSEPOWER! That's right, 500 ponies waiting for you to put
your foot into it and remind everybody why American V8 muscle will
never go out of style.
This isn't your grandpa's 400! Built around a cast-iron block with
4-bolt mains and 10.3:1 compression, this carbureted beast was
engineered for serious performance. BluePrint dyno-tests these
engines to make sure the combination is ready to deliver the
goods.
And when you've got that kind of horsepower under your right foot,
you damn sure better have a transmission that can handle it!
Backing the 400 is a Gearstar 700R4 automatic transmission built
specifically to the car's specifications. That means you've got a
transmission designed to work with this combination, along with the
benefit of overdrive when it's time to quit raising hell and start
eating up highway miles.
500 HORSES MEAN NOTHING IF YOU CAN'T CONTROL THEM!
This is where the build gets even better.
Underneath is a QA1 Level 2 Handling Kit, and we're not talking
about just throwing on a set of shocks and calling it a Pro Touring
build.
We're talking QA1 coilovers, upgraded control arms, bearings,
shocks, sway bars, and tie-rod sleeves-the kind of suspension
hardware that transforms how a classic muscle car responds when you
throw it into a corner.
Out back sits a 10-bolt rear differential professionally rebuilt by
Doug Herzog, equipped with Positraction and 3.73 gears. That's a
combination that'll make good use of the torque coming out of that
400.
And when it's time to bring this beast back down to earth, Wilwood
front disc brakes and a Wilwood master cylinder are ready for the
job.
BIG POWER IS FUN. BIG POWER WITH SERIOUS HANDLING IS A WHOLE
DIFFERENT KIND OF ADDICTION!
OLD-SCHOOL MUSCLE MEETS MODERN ATTITUDE
Climb inside and you'll quickly realize the attention to detail
didn't stop under the hood.
The interior has been redone, including the dash pad, giving this
machine a clean, finished look. A custom center console adds a
personalized touch, while a Dakota Digital sweep-style instrument
cluster brings modern technology into the classic cockpit without
losing that old-school muscle-car attitude.
The windows have even been converted to electric operation, because
there's nothing wrong with enjoying a little modern convenience
while driving something that sounds like it wants to pick a
fight.
Tinted windows add to the aggressive appearance, and a set of
20-inch Ridler 607 wheels gives this beast a stance that demands
attention before you even turn the key.
THE DETAILS UNDERNEATH MATTER TOO!
Here's something a lot of people overlook when buying a custom
muscle car.
While the drivetrain was removed, the entire underside of the car
was cleaned and painted. That's the kind of work you don't always
notice when a car is sitting at a show, but it tells you the
builder wasn't just concerned with what people could see standing
next to it.
The engine. The transmission. The suspension. The brakes. The
interior. The underside.
This is the kind of combination that makes you look for excuses to
take the long way home.
It's got the horsepower to make your passengers grab the seat, the
suspension to make the curves entertaining, and the modern upgrades
to make every drive that much more enjoyable.
Anybody can build a car that makes noise. Building one with the
power, handling, looks, and attitude to back it all up is a
completely different story.
So quit dreaming about building something like this someday.
THE HORSEPOWER IS ALREADY THERE. THE MONEY HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT.
THE ONLY THING MISSING IS YOUR ASS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT!
