Only 500 were produced. Zoom Classic Cars presents this extremely
limited 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen "Parnelli Jones" Edition
(S302-PJ), one of just 500 built for a single model year.
Collector-class from the start, these cars were developed as road-
and road race-ready machines. This example is #227.The Parnelli
Jones Edition is a highly optimized modern tribute to legendary
racer Parnelli Jones and his orange Boss 302 Mustang that dominated
the SCCA Trans-Am road racing series in 1970. Jones was one of
America's most accomplished racing drivers, winning the 1963
Indianapolis 500 and competing across sports cars, Indy cars,
sprint cars, midgets, road racing, off-road racing, and stock
cars. These 500 tribute cars (cue from his Indy 500 win) combine
Saleen engineering with Parnelli Jones-inspired styling and
performance. This was not simply a Ford trim package or an
appearance option. Each car was strategically reworked by Saleen
from front to rear and purpose-built for performance while
retaining the classic attitude of Parnelli's original Boss
302.Every Parnelli Jones Edition received era correct Grabber
Orange paint with classic Boss 302 black hockey-stick graphics,
orange interior accents, a shaker hood with retro hood pins, and
Saleen's extensively optimized naturally aspirated 5.0L 302
three-valve V8 rated at 400 horsepower. Additional Saleen upgrades
included the suspension, braking system, exhaust, and aggressive
front fascia, side skirts, rear fascia, and wing. A center dash
panel individually signed by Steve Saleen and Parnelli Jones
completes the package.#227This particular example is a low-mileage,
one-owner car owned by an avid car enthusiast. It has been
garage-kept from new and has never seen rain or snow. The car has
been carefully sorted and refined since purchase. There is zero
damage or bodywork, the finish remains factory-correct with
excellent presentation inside and out. The vehicle has received
annual service since new, including regular fluid changes. With only
11,600 actual miles, #227 has had enough road time for its owner to
thoughtfully refine the car. One of the most notable upgrades is
the replacement of the factory five-speed transmission with a
Tremec six-speed and dual-friction clutch-a welcome improvement for
both performance and drivability. The Saleen-built naturally
aspirated 5.0L 302 three-valve V8 remains the heart of the car,
producing 400 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. This was achieved with
Saleen engineers stroking the factory 4.6L into a high performance
5.0L 302. Additional specifications include higher compression, a
high-RPM valvetrain with ported heads, forged pistons, rods and
crankshaft, a lightweight aluminum flywheel, and optimized Saleen
PowerFlash tuning.Owner-installed performance upgrades include:•
Kooks long-tube headers• Cold-air intake• MagnaFlow exhaust tubes
with X-pipe (factory Saleen performance mufflers)• Moroso oil-vapor
catch canPower feeds the upgraded Tremec six-speed through a
short-throw shifter and into a stout 8.8 -inch rear with 3.73
gearing. #227 drives exactly as you'd expect from a properly sorted
Saleen - powerful, predictable, tight, and responsive.Suspension &
BrakesThis is not the factory-built 2007 Mustang undercarriage.
Consistent with the performance philosophy shared by Saleen and
Parnelli Jones, these cars were engineered for serious road and
track capability while remaining street able. The foundation is a
Saleen custom-style Watts-link rear suspension designed to
eliminate side-to-side walk under heavy cornering, complemented by
Saleen Racecraft performance springs, shocks, and sway bars front
and rear. The result is sharp, balanced handling with excellent
road manners.Since new, #227 has also received:• Steeda frame-rail
and torque-box braces• Upgraded Bilstein front struts• Upgraded
Bilstein rear shocksBraking is equally well sorted, with factory
Saleen calipers-refinished in red-paired with upgraded massive
14-inch slotted and vented rotors and performance brake pads.Wheels
& TiresThe factory limited-edition staggered 19-inch wheels,
measuring 9 inches up front and 10 inches in the rear, have been
refinished in black and fitted with:• Michelin Pilot Sport All
Season 275/35-ZR19 front• Michelin Pilot Sport All Season
285/35-ZR19 rearAlso included with the sale is an alternate
wheel-and-tire package consisting of four staggered 19-inch Mach
1-style wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires in
40-series sizing. The alternate set is in excellent
condition.Equipment & Updates• Power steering• Power brakes• Power
windows and door locks• Power mirrors• Cruise control• Tilt
steering column• Cold A/C• Heat• Power driver's seatOwner upgrades
include LED lighting, LED dual-lamp headlight assemblies,
sequential LED rear taillight assemblies, color-matched
quarter-panel side scoops (tape mount not permanent), blacked-out
rear side-window panels and hood struts in addition to the factory
hood prop rod.*The factory stereo head unit failed and has been
replaced with a properly fitted Sony unit with satellite radio and
navigation. There is no CD option. The original factory radio,
although non-operational, is included with the sale.Overall #227 is
an exceptionally well-presented, road-ready example of one of the
rarest modern Mustang variants. It shows extremely well, both
mechanically and cosmetically. The exterior received a professional
ceramic coating approximately 2.5 years ago, and the interior
remains excellent, with all systems currently functioning. The car
has a clear New York title and is located in northern Bergen
County, New Jersey.Shown by appointment only.Call Scott at (201)
