"Pin down Bel Air's popularity and value heads the list. Bel Air
for '64 proves the point. Exterior styling is newly created, front,
side and rear, with a stay fresh quality in every sculptured line.
Easy car features add to your carefree driving pleasure, save on
maintenance costs. Inside, Bel Air brings a full measure of good
taste and expertly crafted fabric and vinyl materials." From the
1964 sales brochure
For consignment, a 1964 Bel Air 2 door sedan showing 67,869 miles,
but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. She's
got newer paint and a Blueprint V8 under the hood, and that's just
the tip of the iceberg!
Exterior
Long sleek panels are made even sleeker with the two stage coverage
of Silver Blue Metallic with an Ermine White top, but let's not
overlook the polished trim as key contributors to this car's visual
presence. The distinctive nose and tail both wear beautiful chrome
bumpers with ribbed detailing and both front and rear fascias are
framed in reflective trim. The side trim entails a laser straight
spear running end to end while rocker panel trim also glistens with
metal. The window reveals and pillars are notably body colored and
made prominent by the white roof. Dual headlights are perched in a
ribbed backing bezel that seamlessly connects to the grille where
black inserts are replaced by open space, inviting air into the
engine bay. U.S. Mag wheels are staggered with 18-inch in front and
20-inch in back, wrapped in 40 series ZR rated tires with a mid
2021 date code and we love how the car hunkers down on these argent
spoked wheels. The metalwork and paint are fantastic with
imperfections noted as a ding in the windshield trim, decklid
detail and headlight surround, some clear runs, several chips, a
bend in rocker trim, inclusions, scratches on bumper, and orange
peel.
Interior
Blue vinyl door panels include both smooth and ribbed panels for a
handsome and clean presentation. These patterns are repeated on the
split bench up front in great shape and the rear bench matches in
materials and condition. Our two spoke steering wheel shows nicely
and leads to a 60's simple dashboard augmented with a tachometer on
the column and a triple gauge pod added in the mid dash but looking
almost stock in place of a radio. The consignor states the presence
of a custom sound system with a JL audio wireless receiver. Gray
carpet covers the floor and surrounds the Hurst shifter rising from
the tunnel and the black headliner is high and tight. The trunk is
painted and spotless and is home to the Ridetech full air
suspension system that includes Viair compressors. According to our
consignor, all glass was replaced with the tinted variety.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a clean and impressive looking Blueprint small
block 396ci stroker crate V8 with a consignor stated 491
horsepower. It has Blueprint heads and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor
mated to a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission that routes power
to the Currie 9" rear. Headers and power steering are on board.
Undercarriage
Oh yes, clean underneath! Here you'll find four wheel Wilwood disc
brakes, dual exhaust that makes its way down along the X-frame and
through Flow FX by Flowmaster mufflers which immediately dump
discretely underneath. Suspension includes air bags front and rear
with a 4 link in back.
Drive-Ability
A clean and comfortable interior sets the vibe for the drive which
proves to be a pleasant experience with a powerful engine, straight
tracking, and better handling than you'd expect from a brick shaped
60's classic. All functions on board operate as they should and
it's off to the showroom for this blue beauty. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
Impalas and Bel Airs from this era are wildly popular and Classic
Auto Mall has had the honor to represent dozens as they ride off
into the sunset to a new, happy home. If this was an adoption
agency, this car would be a Golden Retriever/Pit Bull/Greyhound
mix; sleek, powerful, beautiful and fast! In many ways, the perfect
mix of old and new wrapped up in classic Chevy lines.
