In 1963 there were 64 R1 Avanti's built by the factory in black. This is one of those 64. Further supplemented by factory air conditioning we think that makes this one very unique car.

Delivered new to Pioneer Studebaker in Kansas City Missouri, one of the many things we love about this car is all the great paperwork. Showing that this is indeed a factory black, air-conditioned Avanti and listing further equipment of Automatic Floor Shift, Tinted Glass with Sun Band, Tinted Glass Side Windows, Power Steering, Radio and Antenna and "Silent Muffler" we think this car must have been a great competitor to the other fiberglass car being built in 1963- the Corvette. The Aluminum Halibrand wheels are a terrific addition to the appearance of this great Stude.

The black paint and black interior on this Avanti present very nicely. The car performs beautifully and is enjoyable to drive. We think the quality, the paperwork, the uniqueness and rarity of this R1 make it an investment grade car.

We have an Ohio title showing original miles at 15,900 and have a statement from one of the previous California owners that the miles are indeed actual. We have no way to prove or disprove the miles. We bought the car for what it is and the way it presents itself.

We are confident that this Avanti would be able to hold its head high at virtually and car show or gathering and that the next caretaker will have sense of pride of ownership.
