INTRODUCTION: Chargers are among the most desirable muscle cars
ever built, and this one takes it to another level. Rotisserie
restored, it still has all the iconic looks and original charm of a
1970 Charger, but it's been highly upgraded for performance,
handling, comfort and reliability. Best of both worlds- classic
Mopar attitude with modern muscle car performance!
EXTERIOR: I literally just stepped outside and saw this Charger
sitting in the sunlight, and it looks stunning! The gentleman who
restored the car told me it retains its original metal, and the
body is exceptionally clean. It's straight, the panels fit very
nicely, and I did not find any rust, damage or problem areas. It
was repainted a beautiful glossy red with no vinyl top, giving it a
clean, sporty look. The jambs are painted and finished nicely as
well. The black bumblebee stripe with the 500 callout really sets
it off. All of the chrome and trim is straight and shiny, and the
windshield was replaced. Up front are the iconic hideaway
headlights, creating that unmistakable full width Charger grille
when closed. It's sitting just right on a beautiful set of chrome
American Racing wheels- 17s in front and 18s in back and they are
all wrapped in Mickey Thompson Street Comp performance tires.
INTERIOR: The interior has been very nicely restored. The seats
were recushioned and reupholstered, making them exceptionally
comfortable, and the side panels are all in excellent shape. The
carpet and headliner were replaced, the interior light works, and
the dash pad is fresh. Even the instrument panel is clean and not
beat up. What you don't see is an all new Hotwire wiring system,
while what you do see is a great looking set of upgraded Dakota
Digital VHX gauges. A modern center console adds the convenience of
an armrest and cup holders. But there's no question about the best
part- the six-speed shifter sticking right out of the console! It's
also upgraded with three point shoulder belts in front for added
safety.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is where this Charger really
separates itself from the crowd. It's powered by a modern 6.4-liter
392 Gen III HEMI V8 rated at 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of
torque. It has modern electronic fuel injection, a serpentine
accessory drive, modern alternator and power steering, along with
Vintage Air heat and air conditioning. It's also fitted with a
remote oil filter, Wilwood master cylinder and new power brake
system. An upgraded electric wiper motor adds reliability, while an
aluminum Champion radiator with dual electric fans keeps that HEMI
happy and cool. A custom fabricated air box gives the installation
a clean, finished appearance. The engine bay itself is
exceptionally clean- all solid metal painted glossy red with fresh
hardware throughout. Even the windshield squirters are hooked up,
and the original fender tag is still right where it belongs.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid, the jamb and the entire
trunk are painted red. It has insulation padding underneath the
reproduction trunk mat, and the weatherstrip was replaced. The
battery has also been relocated to the trunk and is safely secured
inside a battery box, helping clean up the engine compartment.
UNDERSIDE: There's a lot going on underneath this Charger, starting
with the pristine, dry metal that's finished in glossy red. Beyond
how clean it is, there are some serious mechanical upgrades. Up
front is an AJE tubular suspension system with a tubular K-member,
sway bar, QA1 adjustable coilover gas shocks and rack-and-pinion
steering. The frame has been reinforced front to back with welded
connectors that look like they belong there, reducing body twist
and making the car much more rigid. In back is a four-link
suspension with tubular control arms and adjustable coilover gas
shocks. Braking is handled by four wheel disc brakes with replaced
lines and a custom parking brake. The fuel system was completely
replaced and upgraded to support the fuel-injected HEMI. It has an
impressive 3-inch mandrel bent exhaust with an X-pipe, Flowmaster
mufflers and factory style stainless tips exiting out back. Looking
up at the motor, it has a Holley oil pan and high-torque starter.
The Tremec six-speed manual transmission uses a hydraulic clutch,
and a custom driveshaft connects to a Ford 8.8 rear end with 3.73
posi gears.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: This isn't just a great looking Charger- it has the
chassis, suspension and drivetrain upgrades to make it a much more
capable car!
