Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present 1970 Ford
Bronco, a beautifully executed restomod that brings together the
unmistakable character of the first-generation Bronco with modern
V8 power, upgraded suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and a
carefully crafted custom interior. Built by Maxlider Brothers
Customs of Bloomington, Illinois in 2019, this Bronco was given a
replacement steel tub, body panels, and custom frame before being
transformed into the highly detailed build you see today.
Finished in Sky Blue Metallic, this Bronco has the kind of color
and stance that immediately capture the spirit of the early Bronco
while giving it a distinctly custom personality. Fiberglass fender
flares, black-finished Tom's Offroad bumpers, LED lighting, chrome
side mirrors, and 20-inch Fuel Avenger wheels give the exterior a
bold appearance without losing the classic shape that made the
Bronco such an enduring icon. The wheels are wrapped in 35x12.5
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, with a matching spare mounted
on a swing-out carrier. The underside was finished with Raptor
liner, adding another thoughtful detail to the build.
Open the door and the Bronco takes on an entirely different
character. The cabin is trimmed in brown leather upholstery with
black inserts and piping, extending throughout the front bucket
seats, rear bench, door panels, rear side panels, armrests, and
shifter boots. A family-style roll cage adds to the purposeful
character of the interior, while a matching brown leather bikini
top is included with the sale. Vintage Air climate control brings
modern comfort to the classic cabin, while the locking center
console, hidden Pioneer stereo, JBL speakers, Alpine amplifier, and
subwoofer provide a modern audio experience.
The driver sits behind a Grant wood-rimmed steering wheel mounted
to an Ididit tilting column, with a Maxlider-branded Classic
Instruments gauge cluster providing the information needed to keep
an eye on the Bronco. The cluster includes a 100-mph speedometer
surrounded by auxiliary readouts. The five-digit odometer currently
shows under 3,000 miles.
Under the hood is where this Bronco truly separates itself from an
ordinary classic 4x4. A 5.0-liter Gen 2 Ford Coyote V8 provides the
motivation, backed by an American Auto Wire wiring harness,
stainless steel headers, and a Power By The Hour pulley system.
Cooling is handled by a Ron Davis aluminum radiator with a Spal
electric fan, while a 20-gallon fuel tank uses a 255-lph in-tank
pump. Recent service work in August 2025 included an oil change and
replacement of the fuel pressure gauge.
Power is sent through a Bowler Transmissions four-speed 4R70W
automatic transmission and an Atlas 2 twin-stick dual-range
transfer case. The Bronco is equipped with Currie 44 front and rear
axles featuring 4.56:1 gearing, Yukon Gear differentials, chromoly
axle shafts, manually locking Yukon Gear front hubs, and a Currie
rear differential cover. A stainless-steel exhaust system completes
the drivetrain.
The custom black frame features TDK rails and a 2-inch body lift,
while the suspension uses a multi-link setup with Fox coilovers. A
Maxlider traction bar, pitman arm, sway bars, Heim joints, Reid
Racing steering knuckles, and a Borgeson power steering box further
add to the custom chassis package. Stopping power comes from
Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes with vented rotors, a
hydroboost-assisted Wilwood master cylinder, and stainless-steel
brake lines. An E-Stopp electronic emergency brake kit was also
installed as part of the build.
This is the kind of Bronco that rewards a closer look. From the Sky
Blue Metallic body and custom chassis to the Coyote V8, Atlas
transfer case, Currie axles, Fox suspension, Wilwood brakes, brown
leather interior, and extensive collection of modern upgrades,
virtually every part of this build reflects a deliberate approach
to combining classic Bronco styling with contemporary performance
and comfort.
The build is accompanied by invoices and service records, along
with the matching brown leather bikini top, and the truck is titled
in the seller's name. For someone looking for a first-generation
Bronco that has been thoroughly transformed while retaining the
unmistakable personality of the original, this 1970 Ford Bronco
represents a highly detailed Maxlider Brothers Customs build with
plenty to discover.
