INTRODUCTION: A black '69 Z/28 is one of the hottest cars on the
market today. This tribute underwent a complete body off frame
restoration by "Fussy Joe", a customer of ours for decades who
knows how to build them right. It's exceptionally dialed in from
top to bottom and has the hardware to prove it, including winning
the coveted Hooters Cup Trophy. This is one sharp '69 Camaro!
EXTERIOR: Absolutely stunning looks! The iconic '69 Camaro body
style makes the perfect palette for slick gloss black paint with
white Z28 stripes. The body is straight, the panels fit
beautifully, and there's no rust or damage. There's no vinyl top to
interrupt the look- just gorgeous black paint from top to bottom.
At the time of restoration, the chrome, trim, marker lights,
stainless moldings, and grilles were replaced. It also features the
exterior trim group, including the drip rail moldings, rear quarter
louvers, and wheel opening moldings. Even the T3 headlights are in
place. Of course, it has the aggressive cowl hood along with front
and rear spoilers. The weatherstrips were replaced, as were the
front and rear windows. It sits just right on 15-inch Rally wheels
with shiny trim, wrapped in reproduction Firestone Wide Oval
tires.
INTERIOR: It has been completely restored to factory specifications
and presents beautifully. The seats were re-cushioned and
reupholstered, while the door panels, armrests, dash pad,
headliner, and visors were all replaced. The carpet still looks
fresh and is protected by a set of reproduction floor mats. The
dash is complete with a full set of factory gauges, including the
tachometer and the desirable console mounted gauges. Even the clock
has been upgraded with reliable quartz movement. The heater control
panel was replaced and the interior lights work. A retro-style
stereo and 6x9 rear speakers provides modern entertainment while
maintaining the vintage appearance, and retractable three-point
seat belts add a welcome safety upgrade.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is neat, tidy, and properly finished
throughout. At the heart of it is a crate 350, topped with an
aluminum intake cleverly disguised in Chevy orange for a more
factory appearance. A Sniper fuel injection system is hidden
beneath the cowl induction air cleaner, along with a Sniper
ignition system. A set of Doug's coated headers helps it breathe
and adds some extra performance. It's equipped with power steering
and power brakes, upgraded electric wipers, and a great looking set
of valve covers. All the pulleys, brackets, and components are
clean and well presented. The squirters are hooked up, the hood has
insulation, and the battery is properly secured with premium cables
and terminals. All the surrounding metal surfaces are painted very
nicely, completing a clean, well sorted engine compartment.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Like I said, he's fussy, and the trunk
compartment proves it. It even has a reproduction Firestone tire
mounted on a reproduction Rally wheel, along with a complete
reproduction jack assembly. Under the trunk lid is painted slick
and detailed with the proper decals, and the weatherstrip was
replaced. Inside, everything is solid, clean, and complete,
finished off with a reproduction trunk mat.
UNDERSIDE: Everything was removed from the underside of this car
during the restoration, including the subframe, which was powder
coated along with the chassis components. Front and rear suspension
was rebuilt and upgraded with Bilstein gas shocks. The steering was
rebuilt too. The brake system was completely rebuilt and upgraded
with disc brakes at all four wheels. It also has new lines, and a
functional e-brake. The fuel system was replaced, including the
tank and lines, and upgraded to accommodate the fuel injection. It
has a great sounding dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, a
crossover pipe, and the proper slash cut stainless tail pipes.
Looking up at the motor, it's spotless Chevy orange and features a
high-torque starter. The Muncie 4-speed was rebuilt and upgraded
with a Super 661 case. The floors are rock solid, clean metal
protected with a chip guard finish. Everything underneath is
properly installed and presented very nicely.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: The restoration was completed about eight or nine years
ago, and this car has been driven and enjoyed since. It still
presents beautifully, although if you look closely, you'll find a
minor nick or flaw here and there. Most importantly, it's dialed
in, proven, and ready to drive and enjoy!
