This 1971 Dodge Demon is a purpose-built street and strip machine
that combines classic Mopar A-body styling with a heavily modified
drivetrain and unmistakable race-inspired presentation. Finished in
a vivid orange exterior with contrasting purple highlights, this
Demon has an aggressive stance and appearance that immediately
makes its intentions clear. The hood scoop, wide rear tires,
polished wheels, and purposeful setup give the car the look of a
period drag racer.
Under the hood is a 440ci V8 producing a reported 600 horsepower.
Long-tube headers, an aluminum radiator, and other
performance-oriented components are visible beneath the hood,
creating an engine compartment centered around function and
straight-line performance.
Backing the 440 is an automatic transmission equipped with a
reverse-pattern manual valve body, giving the driver direct control
over gear selection. A prominent aftermarket shifter with a
button-equipped handle further emphasizes the car's
competition-focused setup. Power is sent to a 4.10-geared rear end,
providing an aggressive final-drive ratio well suited to the car's
drag-racing character.
The interior has also been configured with performance in mind.
Finished in black, the cabin features bucket seats, an aftermarket
wood-rim steering wheel, large tachometer, auxiliary gauges, and a
roll bar/cage structure. Despite its competition-oriented
modifications, the Demon retains much of its original-style
dashboard, door panels, and interior trim, giving the cabin a
distinctly vintage Mopar feel rather than the completely stripped
environment of a dedicated race car.
Out back, the Demon wears substantially wider rear rubber tucked
beneath the factory bodywork, while additional chassis bracing and
race-oriented hardware are visible in the trunk. The combination of
big-block power, 4.10 gearing, reverse-pattern automatic
transmission, upgraded cooling, additional instrumentation, roll
protection, and drag-oriented wheel and tire setup makes this a
serious performance-focused Demon with plenty of old-school Mopar
attitude.
The car was reportedly purchased in Tennessee in 1999 and has
remained in long-term ownership since. With its bright orange and
purple presentation, big-block power, and extensive race-oriented
equipment, this 1971 Dodge Demon offers an unmistakable take on one
of Dodge's most recognizable A-body muscle cars.
