Condition - Very Good - a few scratches from driving it to Key West and back in 2020 and a small dent in back bumper.
Description - 1972 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Campmobile. Bay window, pop-top, Sierra Yellow, fully mechanically restored.
Body: No rust. None in the rockers, none in the outriggers, and the sliding door is clean. Completely resprayed in correct Sierra Yellow by Island Air Cooled VW Restoration on Vancouver Island. A few light scratches in the paint from normal use, and some minor bubbling on the back left-hand corner. Front bumpers with steps. We think we're the third owners — first in North Van, second planned to restore it and instead let it sit in his garage for 20 years, then us. Engine and transmission: 1641cc dual port, hand-built in 2019 by Beetle Auto Service in Victoria — German magnesium block, German crank, new heads, new dual carbs, Pertronix ignition. New muffler and battery in 2024. Gearbox, brakes, suspension and front beam all redone. Standard transmission.
Mileage: Speedometer works. The odometer reading isn’t the actual mileage – true mileage is unknown. The driveline is six years old. Engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension and front beam all done in 2019, roughly 15,000 km since, most of it on a trip from Vancouver Island to Key West and back.

Changes from stock: The original galley was replaced with a smaller hand-built maple unit. No sink, but it opens the cabin so you can move from the front seats straight through to the back, instead of the original kitchen forcing you out around through the sliding door. Sized for a Coleman double stove on top and a cooler underneath, with a lid that pops out for counter space and room for kitchen supplies. The original steering wheel and inside door panels are included in the sale; both were replaced with a larger fancier wheel and wood panels to accommodate a Bluetooth speaker system to run from your phone. The back lights were swapped for smaller 1971 taillights; they just look better, but if you want a numbers-correct VW, just put the taillights and steering wheel back on. If you want a solid take-you-anywhere van to camp in, this one carried a family of five from Vancouver Island to Key West and back, leaving December 2019 and back March 2020. It's super functional, especially with the big tires that can handle Canadian dirt roads.
